Santiago Summit

- This summit was the 12th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting to be held under the
"One Community, Our Future" theme from the year 2004. Additionally, it was in
Santiago, Chile. We reaffirmed our dedication to fulfilling the Bogor Goals of trade
and investment liberalization and facilitation, enhancing human security, promoting
good governance, and a knowledge-based society in order to achieve sustainable
and equitable growth and reduce economic disparities for the welfare of our people.

- A reference manual for APEC members conducting RTA/FTA discussions, best


practices for RTAs and FTAs is also adopted by the organization. The unveiling of the
Leaders' Agenda to Implement Structural Reform (LAISR). The outcome of these
discussions was the Santiago Declaration and Plan of Action, which included 27
measures that each addressed a shared concern among the participating nations. It
deals with five key issues: regulatory reform, corporate governance, public
governance, competition policy, and bolstering the legal framework for the
economy. The Santiago Commitment to Fight Corruption and Ensure Transparency is
supported by leaders.
