“If a Child can’t Learn the way we Teach, maybe we should Teach the way they

Learn”.

Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of

knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits, and personal development.
Education originated as transmission of cultural heritage from one generation to the
next. Today, educational goals increasingly encompass new ideas such as liberation of
learners, critical thinking about presented information, skills needed for the modern
society, empathy and complex vocational skills. On the other hand, learning is the
process of acquiring new understanding, knowledge, behaviors, skills, values,
attitudes, and preferences. In addition to this matter, educational institutions
specifically schools designed to provide learning spaces and learning environment for
the teaching and learning process. Teachers impart their knowledge to their students
following the fixed curriculum they need to accomplish. However, a child learns in
different ways that may oppose to the way teachers teach.
“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we teach the way they learn.”
This catchphrase is a quote that suggests an adjustment or a solution to a problem.
Teaching a child using the traditional way of educating specifically, following the
customary curriculum may become a big concern that must be addressed quickly.
Additionally, a child wants to be educated through the ways they wanted to learn. If a
child wants to learn through hands-on activities and you are just teaching them in a
way of just visualizing things and processes, obviously, it will not be effective. The
child will not cooperate nor learn something from the lesson.
Moreover, an example I could situate is a child who can understand more
through seeing what is being discussed rather than just visualizing ideas or listening.
Humans have different ways of learning or also called as learning style. There are
several types of learning style such as logic, kinesthetic learning, auditory learning,
interpersonal communication, reading, linguistics, reading/writing learning, visual
learning, etc. The situation I mentioned belongs to visual learning, wherein a child
learns effectively through the usage of images and graphics. We must learn different
teaching and learning styles in order for us to be an effective teacher for our learners.
The changes induced by learning often last a lifetime, and it is hard to
distinguish learned material that seems to be "lost" from that which cannot be
retrieved. Human learning starts at birth and continues until death as a consequence of
ongoing interactions between people and their environment. The nature and processes
involved in learning are studied in many established fields, as well as emerging fields
of knowledge.
