Minimal Format

 Quotes of Scripture and given references should follow regular pattern

• Eg. “Jesus wept” (John 11:35 NRSV).
 A quotation over three lines in length should be separated from the sentence that
supports it by indenting the quoted passage.
 If you leave out a word or words from a quote, you must ensure that the meaning of
the quoted passage stays the same. You should always indicate you have left out a
word or words by inserting three trailing dots instead of the omitted words.
Eg. Dutton, in reply to his critics, unashamedly remarks that “the truth of the matter
can only be resolved ... with close attention to detail.”4
• with footnote: 4 Jeremy Dutton, Truth and Fiction (London : Penguin, 1992),
86.
 When a book or article is used a second time, do not use Ibid., but use the “short
form” as follows:
• Young, Corinthians, 25 OR Silva, “The Law and Christology,” 342.
 All titles of books are to be in italics. But the series title (eg. Word Biblical
Commentary (WBC)) should not be italicized.
• e.g., Richard N. Longenecker, Galatians, WBC 41 (Dallas: Word, 1990), 345.
