INTRODUCTION

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and


spiritual practice that originated in India.
The word ‘yoga’ derived from Sanskrit and
means to join or to unite, symbolizing the
union of body and consciousness
WHY DO WE DO
CELEBRATE YOGA?
Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21st,
because that is the longest day of
the year in India (solstice). The
International Day of Yoga aims to
raise awareness worldwide of the many
benefits of practicing yoga to mind,
body and soul:

✦ Helps with back pain relief
✦ Helps to sleep better
✦ Promotes a better self-care
Procedure of Tadasana
1. Stand on a yoga mat; your feet should be slightly apart.

2. Your hands should be alongside your body.

3.Inhale deeply and slowly raise your arms upwards then


interlock your fingers.

4.Raise your heels and stand on your toes.

5.Feel your body stretching

Procedure of Vrikshasana
1. Stand erect. Keep a distance of one feet between the legs.

2.Raise your arms up keeping the palms closer in Anjali


Mudra.

3.Raise the right leg up and place it on the left thigh similar
to the leg position in Ardha Padmasana.

4. Breathe normally. Release the right leg down

Procedure of Vajrasana
1. Start by kneeling on the floor.

2. Pull your knees and ankles together and point your


feet in line with your legs.

3. Exhale as you sit back on your legs.

4. Put your hands on your thighs and adjust your pelvis


slightly backward and forward until you're comfortable.

Procedure of Bhujangasana
1.Place your palms flat on the ground directly under your
shoulders. Bend your elbows straight back and hug them

with your neck in a neutral position.

3.Inhale to lift your chest off the floor.

4.Keep your neck neutral.

Bhujangasana (Cobra posture)

Procedure of Naukasana

4. Keep breathing deeply and easily while maintaining the


pose.

Procedure of Bhastrika Pranayama
1. Sit in Padmasana (Lotus Pose).

Procedure of Kapal bhati Pranayama
1.Sit comfortably with your spine erect. Place your hands on the knees with palms open
to the sky.
2. Take a deep breath in.
3. As you exhale, pull your navel back towards the spine. Do as much as you
comfortably can. You may keep your right hand on the stomach to feel the abdominal
muscles contract.
4. As you relax the navel and abdomen, the breath flows into your lungs automatically.
5. Take 20 such breaths to complete one round of Kapal Bhati.
6. After completing the round, relax with your eyes closed and observe the sensations in
your body.
7. Do two more rounds of Kapal Bhati.

Posture of Anulom Vilom Pranayama
Procedure of Anulom Vilom Pranayama
1.Sit comfortably with your spine erect. PlaceStart with your outer wrists resting on
your knees.
2. Place your thumb on your right nostril and your ring finger on the left nostril.
3.Close your right nostril with your thumb and inhale through your left nostril, slowly
and deeply, until your lungs are full. Focus on your breathing.
4.Next, release your thumb and close your left nostril with your ring finger.
5.Exhale slowly through the right nostril.
6.Now do it in reverse, this time inhaling through the right nostril and exhaling through
the left.
