Long ago, in a far away land of Arabia, there lived a man

and his family. They were Muslims and it was the time of
hajj. It was a journey that would take several weeks.

The man said to his wife and children

‘I want to go for Hajj, but I am afraid that the food at

home will not be enough till I return’

‘Then don’t go’ said his wife ‘you can go some other
time’

His youngest daughter Aisha said to her father.

‘Go for Hajj daddy, Allah will provide for us’

The man was very glad to hear this and so he made

preparations and left.

A few weeks later, their food ran out and they were all
hungry. Everyone blamed Aisha for encouraging their
father to go.
“See where your big mouth has landed us’ said her elder
siblings ‘we’re going to die of hunger’

Her mother blamed her too.

Aisha was ashamed. She ran into the room and raised her
hands in prayer

‘Oh Allah, Your word is true. You said that whoever puts
their trust in You, will have their needs met from where
they do not expect. O Allah, help us’

Just then, a caravan was passing outside their house and

they realised that they had run out of water. They decided
to ask for water from little Aisha’s house.

‘Assalamu alaykum’ they greeted and it was Aisha who

opened the door

‘Wa alaykum salam’ she answered.

He asked after her father and she said he had gone for
hajj.
‘We are travelers and we have run out of water. Would
you be kind enough to give us some?’

Aisha then gave the man some water and he went back to
his people.

When the leader drank the water, he found it cool and

refreshing.

‘Ahh, let me go and say Teslim to the head of this house’

‘He has gone for Hajj’ replied the man who went to get
the water.

‘Oh, that means it is our responsibility to take care of his

family’

The leader bought out a purse of gold coins and threw it

into little Aisha’s compound. Then he asked his men to do
the same.

When every member of the caravan had thrown some

coins, they went on their way.
Aisha and her family came out to see the floor filled with
coins of gold and they were happy. They had become
very rich.

Aisha wept out of joy.

THE END

Once upon a time, there lived a people who preferred

male children to female children. They believed that boys
would grow up to be warriors and protect their land from
the neighboring villages that attacked them. They threw
big feasts when boys were born but did not celebrate the
birth of girls.

Hamar had three daughters and he was always mocked by

his friends. His wife was pregnant and he hoped it would
be a boy this time. He prayed to Allah ‘O Allah, bless me
with a boy’
One day, while he was sitting among his friends, someone
rushed to give him the news of his child’s birth

“Your wife has just given birth to another girl’

His friends laughed and he went home to meet his family.

His wife expected him to be angry because she knew how

much he’d hoped it would be a boy.

‘May Allah bless her for us’ He said and kissed his
daughter’s head.

Before the village awoke the next morning, Hamar and

his family left the village.
