Check the alternator attachment by mounting a dial

gauge on the MGB with the feeler bearing on the end
of the alternator.

Check that the dial gauge reading does not change

(i.e. no play) when upward and downward loads "F"
of 20 daN (44.962 lbf) are applied manually on the
alternator.

If play is observed, remove the alternator as per

24-21-00-401 to check internal bearings (refer to
manufacturer’s literature).
