General instructions-
1. The Question Paper contains five sections.
2. Section A: Q No: 1 to 18 are MCQ carrying 1 mark each.
3. Section B: Q No: 19 to 25 are short answer questions and carry 2
marks each.

marks each.
5. Section D: Q No: 31to 32 are case study based question carrying 4
marks. long answer questions and carry 5 marks each.
6. Section E: Q No 33 to 35 are long answer questions and carry 5
marks each.
7. All questions are compulsory.
8. There is no overall choice. However an internal choice has been
provided in two questions of two marks, two questions of three
marks and all the three questions of five marks weightage. You
have to attempt only one of the choices in such questions.
9. Use Log tables if necessary, use of calculators are not allowed.

22. Show that for a first order reaction the time required for 99% completion
of a reaction is twice the time reaction is twice the time required
completing 90% of the reaction.
23. The rate constant of a first order reaction increases from
4 x10-2 to 8 x10-2 when the temp. changes from 27˚ to 37˚C. calculate the
energy of activation (Ea).
24. A solution of [Ni(H2O)6 ] 2+ is green, but a solution of [Ni(CN)4 ] 2- is

OR
Arrange the following in increasing order of electrical conductivity and
also give reason:

31. Read the passage given below and answer the following questions:
Few colligative properties are:
(a) relative lowering of vapour pressure: depends only on molar
concentration of solute (mole fraction) and independent of its nature.
(b) depression in freezing point: it is proportional to the molal
concentration of solution.
(c) elevation of boiling point: it is proportional to the molal concentration
of solute.
(d) osmotic pressure: it is proportional to the molar concentration of
solute.
