Basic Parts of a Computer

Monitor- The monitor displays the computer's

user interface and open programs, allowing the
user to interact with the computer, typically
using the keyboard and mouse.
Central Processing Unit (CPU) -The central
processing unit (CPU) of a computer is a piece of
hardware that carries out the instructions of a
computer program. It performs the basic
arithmetical, logical, and input/output operations
of a computer system
Keyboard- A computer keyboard is an input
device used to enter characters and functions
into the computer system by pressing buttons,
or keys. It is the primary device used to enter
text. A keyboard typically contains keys for
individual letters, numbers and special
characters, as well as keys for specific functions
Speaker- Speakers are one of the most common
output devices used with computer systems.
Some speakers are designed to work specifically
with computers, Regardless of their design;
the purpose of speakers is to produce audio
output that can be heard by the listener.
Printer- A printer is a device that accepts text
and graphic output from a computer and
transfers the information to paper, Printers vary
in size, speed, sophistication, and cost. In
general, more expensive printers are used for
higher-resolution color printing.
Joystick- a joystick is a cursor control device
used in computer games and assistive
technology. Joysticks are often used to control
video games, and usually have one or more push-
buttons whose state can also be read by
the computer.
Headphones- headphones are a hardware output
device that either plug into your computer line
out or your speakers to privately listen to audio
without disturbing others.
Mouse- A mouse is a handheld pointing
device used to position a cursor on a computer
screen. This allows the user to select items
stored on a computer and, subsequently, perform
actions on those items.

Storage Hardware
Hard
Disk- A hard
disk drive
(HDD), hard
disk is a data

storage device that uses magnetic storage to

store and retrieve digital information using one
or more rigid rapidly rotating disks (platters)
coated with magnetic material.
Floppy Disk- A floppy disk is a magnetic
storage medium for computer systems.
The floppy disk is composed of a thin, flexible
magnetic disk sealed in a square plastic carrier.
Random Access Memory- Random Access
Memory, or RAM, is the physical hardware inside
a computer that temporarily stores data, serving
as the computer's "working" memory. RAM is
used by the central processing unit (CPU) when
a computer is running to store information that it
needs to be used very quickly, but it does not
store any information permanently.
Power Supply- A power supply unit converts
mains AC to low-voltage regulated DC power for
the internal components of a computer. Modern
personal computers universally use switched-
mode power supplies.
Processor- A processor, or "microprocessor," is a
small chip that resides in computers and other
electronic devices. Its basic job is to receive
input and provide the appropriate output. The
central processor of a computer is also known
as the CPU, or "central processing unit."
Motherboard- A motherboard is one of the most
essential parts of a computer system. It holds
together many of the crucial components of a
computer , including the central processing unit
(CPU), memory and connectors for input and
output devices.
