designed with Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum
Board provide a comfortable environment
with high acoustic values.

Perforated design of Cleaneo Acoustic

Gypsum Board improves the acoustic of the
place with its high sound absorption value. In
this way, Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum Board
controls the noise and echo duration in the
environment. Therefore, talking in the
environment becomes more clear to
understand, individuals' efficiency increases
and their concentrations positively influenced.

In conditions where acoustic is bad, the sound

echoes after reaching the audience and the
same sound reaches the audience following a
different path again. The elapsed time is long
enough for the audience to perceive these
different sounds and for the performance to
be influenced negatively. However, Cleaneo
Acoustic Gypsum Board developed with
Knauf's high technology controls the noise
level and echoing duration in the environment
and improves the acoustic quality of the
place and individual performances.

The quality of the air we breath is another
important factor influencing our health. The
air in closed areas such as house, school and
workplace has a significant influence on our
quality of life and health. Today this issue
has become even more important as buildings
have been built with air tight constructions in
order to achieve energy efficiency. Previously,
recovering the ventilation system was the
first thought that came to mind when
improving the air quality in the place was in
question. But now, Knauf offers the sector a
new solution with Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum
Board. Ceilings cover a quite large space that
contacts the air in closed areas. As a result of
applying Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum Board to
ceilings, unpleasant smell and volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) that harm our
health by polluting the air are absorbed and
clean air is returned to the environment.
Zeolite additive in Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum
Board provides this unique property. Zeolite
is a substance that can absorb volatile organic
compounds damaging the environment by
polluting the air. Zeolite with pore diameter
smaller than a millionth of a millimeter
consists of layers acting as a natural filter,
and liquid and gas causing air pollution are
trapped in the pores of this natural filter.
Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum Board with this
feature prevents substances such as cigarette
smoke, triethylamine, ammonia,
formaldehyde, benzine, hydrocarbon from
polluting the air and makes living spaces
healthier.

 Knauf Domed
Dome-Shaped Ceilings

Domes have always been the center of attraction

and they are challenges for great architects. Prefabricated Member Kits
Today dome-shaped ceilings can be economically
built using dry construction systems. Knauf has
two complete prefabricated member kits for
standard domes. Both kits include all
construction members required for base
construction.

Domes are built depending on the related

construction and planning targets.

Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum Board is screwed on
the metal base construction consisting of hanger
and main profiles. When desired gypsum board
can be manufactured with/without fiber fleece
on the back sides.
When required, mineral wool insulation with at
least 20 mm thickness is placed between
profiles.
Longitudinal corner joints are applied on Random
Circular Perforated Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum
Board in order to make perforations look
seamless in certain perspectives and when light
conditions are not suitable.
Loads cannot be fixed on Cleaneo Acoustic
Gypsum Board directly.
Dilatation Joints and Connections
Dilatation joints are applied when corner lengths
are more than approximately 15 meters.
Connections to other construction members and
especially to columns must be movable.
Base Construction
Metal base substructure is fixed to the ceiling
with wire hanger or direct hanger.
Spacings of substructure are determined
according to the load:
If acoustic ceiling load class is ≤ 0,15 kN/m2,
spacing of hangers must be max 900 mm.

If acoustic ceiling load class is 0,15 < p ≤ 0,30
Construction

Paint: Plastic base paints resistant to wasking

and abrasion, multi color effect paint substances,
oil paint, matte varnished paint, alcide resin
paint, polymerization resin paint, varnished
polyurathane paint (PUR), varnished epoxide
paint (EP) can be applied depending on the
purpose of use and demand.

Alcalic coating such as lime, glass and silicate

base paint are not suitable for board surfaces.
Silicate based paints can be used on condition
that all manufacturer notices and

recommendations are followed.

Joints are filled with gun and excessive putty is

manually removed by scratching.

Mounting
Edges can be cleaned using sandpaper if required. Preferably, plate's
edges are cleaned of the dust and coated using Knauf Tiefengrund.
While applying Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum Board, in some of the
perforated boards, hole alignment tools are used. The holes are aligned
and the hole is checked visually or using a laser.

Red Blue
For Random Perforated Knauf Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum Board
There are red and blue marks on the crossing edges. When applying,
plates are placed matching blue and red marks (on short and long
edges).
Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum Board is placed upright the furring Ceiling C
Profiles and without staggering cross-mounted.
Screwing is started from the middle or the corner of the gypsum board.
SN acoustic screws must be used when mounting Knauf Cleaneo
Acoustic Gypsum Board .
A dry brush must be used to clean the dust at the joints. If necessary,
the surface is coated again using Knauf Tiefengrund. (In order to
prevent dusting during installation)
Note: If boards contact water, it will increase cracking risk more than
removing the dust.
Holes closed while applying joint filler on screw heads are opened again
using a suitable controller before putty is hardened.
Overflow is cleaned by scraping after Uniflott dries.
Joints are filled with Uniflott using joint filling gun. Uniflott is applied
to cut edge boards with continuous perforations using plastic head gun
by slightly overflowing. It is checked if there are gaps between joints
after application.
If holes are accidentally filled in joint filling and applying putty, they are
opened again using (8/18 R, 8/12/50 R, 12/20/66 R) perforation
cleaners prepared specifically for hole types. Finally, puttied and dried
surfaces are made smooth using sandpaper. Before paint applications,
Spezialfrund undercoat is applied on Knauf Cleaneo Acoustic Gypsum
Board surfaces if required. Short brushed role or brush is used in coating
and painting.
Note: Coating must be suitable with the paint/coating substance to
be applied.

Sound Absorption Value α
Sound absorption value is a value expressing
the decrease in sound energy in a place.
Complete reverberation is α = 0, and complete
absorption is α = 1.
Hole Ratio of Knauf Acoustic Gypsum
Board Types
In 10-15% of hole ratio, highest levels of noise
absorption are achieved. In hole ratios under
10%, levels decrease in high frequencies and
stay the same in low frequencies. It is the
opposite in hole ratios over 15%.

Mineral Wool
Mineral wool is generally used in spaces
expected to have properties related to fire
safety and where a very high level of sound
absorption in low frequency range is required.
Acoustic Fleece
Acoustic fleece applied to the back side in
acoustic design ceilings is generally sufficient
in terms of noise absorption.
Air Pocket
The distance between suspended acoustic
ceiling and rough ceiling has a significant role
in noise absorption level. In suspension heights
under 100 mm, noise absorption levels tend to
be in high frequencies. Large air pockets cause
increase in noise absorption in low frequencies.
In air pockets larger than 500 mm, only a
small amount of change occurs.
