PTSD is a psychiatric disorder


that occurs in people who
have witnessed or
experienced traumatic or
disturbing events. It was first
discovered in 1980 in the third
edition of Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders. During the World
Wars, it was often referred to
as “shell shock”.
