What is a fuse?
A fuse is a component that turns off the power in a circuit when to much current
flows through the circuit and overheats the circuit. A fuse will melt when there is
too much current stopping the flow of electricity. This stops the circuit from
overheating and possibly catching fire. A fuse is a form of protection.
Other Information
The fuse was patented by Thomas Edison in 1890. He made it for his electric
distribution system.
