CIRCUIT BREAKER
electrical switch designed to
protect an electrical circuit
from damage caused by
overcurrent/overload or
short circuit. Its basic
function is to interrupt
current flow after protective
relays detect a fault.
LIGHT BULB SWITCH

a light switch is a switch

most commonly used
to operate electric lights,
permanently connected
equipment, or electrical
outlets.
FLOW OF ELECTRICITY TO THE BULB
A light bulb is a very fine wire made
of tungsten, sealed in an inert gas
atmosphere. When a current is
flowing through the wire, electrical
energy is converted to heat, which
makes the wire extremely hot --
almost 1000oF! Objects this hot give
off visible light, and there is your
light bulb.
OUTLET PLUG WIRING
supplying current from the
receptacle to the circuity of
an electrical appliance.
Electrical plugs have two or
three prongs. Hot and
neutral pins are present in
both two- and three-pronged
plugs.
FLOW OF ELECTRICITY TO
OUTLET PLUG
when a plug is inserted into
the socket, the energy flows
in from the hot slot, through
the circuit, and ends at the
neutral, which disperses the
energy into the ground.
EXTENSION WIRE
to connect an electrical cord
to the outlet if the main
cable falls short. Extension
cords vary in length and
type of outlet plug. They can
be anywhere in length from
two feet to as long as one
hundred feet.
FLOW OF ELECTRICITY TO
EXTENSION WIRE
the current drops to
somewhere between 100 and
110 volts. When you plug an
appliance into a wall outlet, the
electricity that flows through it
is at 120 volts. The longer the
extension cord is, the more
voltage gets lost in the process.
