ASSSIGNMENT IN FLUID MECHANICS

Answer the following problems, show your solutions:

1.) If the pressure at a point in the ocean is 65 kPa, what is the pressure 27 m
below the point? Use S.G. of Sea water = 1.03

2.) How many meters of water are equivalent to a pressure of 110 kPa?

3.) If atmospheric pressure is 95.7kPa and the gage attached to the tank
reads 188mmHg vacuum, find the absolute pressure within the tank.

4.) A cylinder glass tubing is 2.2ft. long with one end closed and is immersed
vertically with the open end down into a tank of cleaning solvent (SG=0.73)
until only 2.4 inches of it remains above the liquid surface. Determine the
fluid rise inside the tube.
5.) What is the water pressure on the sea bottom at a depth of 6500m? The
specific gravity of sea water is assumed to be 1.03.
6.) In figure 1, the pressure at A is 560 psf and the liquid flowing inside the
pipe is water, determine the pressure at B.
7. Determine the force F required for equilibrium in the figure shown.

8. A quart of water weighs 4.08 lb. compute the mass in kg.
