If you were an executive at Coca-Cola, what actions or programs would you

recommend or support?
As an executive who is commonly responsible for making key decisions and

managing significant department operations, I would set up a meeting with my team to

discuss possible long-term initiatives. Coca-Cola has been the target of public’s ire as it

has been accused of unethical behavior in several areas, such as depletion of natural

resources, product safety, pollution, anti-competitiveness, racial discrimination, channel

stuffing, and health concerns. Since the company relies heavily on access to vast supplies of

water, my first recommendation would be that Coca cola implement various used water

treatment facilities. It can start by investing in improved and updated manufacturing

machines that can minimize water waste and reuse of treated wastewater in boilers, chillers

and evaporators. Likewise, by partnering with local governments and NGOs to finance and

construct water treatment facilities, inaugurate rainwater harvesting structures, build various

check dams, and restore water to natural reservoirs, it will improve local infrastructure

tremendously and will avoid depleting the community's natural resources.(Obtic,n.d,para.4)

On the other hand, I would recommend that the company invest in biodegradable plant-based

bottles instead of the typical plastic one in order to protect the environment. That is, they are

a better and safer alternative as they don’t transmit the same chemicals as plastic bottles

do. This alternative will benefit human’s health and will decrease the amount of plastic

waste that contaminates the world’s oceans and waterways. Lastly, since obesity is a

complex issue among the population that calls for a multifaceted approach, I would

vehemently support non-profit organizations and campaign programs that promote healthier

lifestyles to fight obesity. This will be done through awareness campaigns that aim to

encourage the community to adopt healthy eating habits and active living. Thus, I believe

these types of initiatives will help the various stakeholders see Coca Cola in a better light.
