Testing Power Supply

Prerequisites The hardware installation for the equipment is completed and
passes the installation check.
The power supply is available, and the fuse capacity satisfies
the requirement.
The power supply is turned off.
Context Power supply test includes checking before power-on and after
power-on.
Steps 1. Before the equipment is powered on, make sure that the power
supply's voltage is normal and the electrodes are correct.
2. Check whether the switch of the equipment's power supply is
in OFF status.
3. Check whether the antenna feeder is installed correctly.
4. Check whether the cabinet, the antenna feeder, and the light-
ning protector are grounded correctly.
5. Make the equipment power on: Firstly, make sure that the
power supply of all modules are turned off; secondly, put the
power supply's switch of the power supply cabinet to "ON", and
put the power supply's switch of IDU to "ON".
6. Check the power supply of IDU: After the equipment is powered
on, check the power supply of IDU by observing whether IDU's
power supply indicator is in normal working status (i.e. green
and constantly ON).
7. Check the power supply of fan module: After the equipment is
powered on, the fan module of IDU should automatically start.

Logging in to WEB CIT

Prerequisites The equipment is powered on.
Context The notebook PC is accessed to WEB CIT through Ethernet cable.
Check whether the notebook PC can be accessed to WEB CIT nor-
mally. Such checking guarantees subsequent data configuration
and other commissioning items that use WEB CIT.
Steps 1. Obtain the IP address of IDU. The DHCP service is enabled for
IDU upon delivery, and user can obtain the IP address of IDU
with that feature. Perform the following operations to obtain
the IP address of IDU.
i. Use straight Ethernet cable or cross-connect Ethernet ca-
ble to connect the notebook PC with IDU. Right-click My
Network Places on the desktop of the notebook PC, and
click Properties from the pop-up menu. The network con-
nection window appears.
ii. Double-click the local connection icon, and the local con-
nection state window appears. In the Local Area Connec-
tion Properties dialog box, select the radio button Obtain
an IP address automatically.
iii. Open the command line window, and input the ipconfig
/renew command. This command is used to get a new
IP address from DHCP server. Press Enter key, as shown
in Figure 1. Now, the notebook PC successfully gets the
IP address allocated by IDU, and can access the IDU, as
shown in Figure 1.

FIGURE 1 OBTAINING IP ADDRESS OF IDU

iv. Input the ipconfig /all command and press Enter key.
The IP address of the notebook PC is displayed, as shown
in Figure 2. For example, the notebook PC's IP address
in this example is 10.61.121.120, and IDU's IP address is
10.61.121.249, as shown in Figure 2.

be decided by testing E1 cable connection. Also, this test helps
find out whether the E1 cable is normal.
Prerequisites The equipment is configured with E1 interface board.
The service data configuration is completed.
Steps 1. Connect E1 interface with the error bit tester. The error bit
tester displays the AIS alarm.
2. Set the corresponding E1 interface as terminal loopback
through WEB CIT.

Adjusting Antennas at Both

Ends
Short Description Adjusting antennas at both ends is the most important testing item
in inter-site commissioning. This adjustment directly influences
the microwave link's performance.
Prerequisites The single site commissioning for microwave equipments at
both ends of the microwave link has been completed.
During the commissioning process, the weather is fine between
the two sites, without rain, snow, or fog.
The actual conditions and antenna commissioning personnel all
satisfy the requirement for working at high altitudes.
Steps 1. If the distance between the two sites is long (larger than 2
km), then set antennas at both ends horizontally. If the dis-
tance between the two sites is short, then adjust the antenna's
downtilt within a small range according to actual condition.
2. Connect the multimeter with the local ODU's BNC port cor-
rectly.
3. Adjust the antenna's horizontal position: Fix the remote an-
tenna, measure the voltage at BNC port with the multimeter;
rotate the antenna within a large range in horizontal direc-
tion, and make sure that at least three peak signals of BNC are
scanned within the rotating range, of which the middle one has
the highest voltage.

Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION 9

ZXMW NR8250 Commissioning Guide

4. Adjust the antenna's downtilt: Adjust the antenna's downtilt at

each position when BNC port has the peak volage to make the
voltage at BNC port reach the highest value within the scanning
range. Adjust the antenna to the position when BNC port has
the highest voltage, and fix the local antenna. When tightening
the antenna, keep the voltage at BNC port to be the highest
value.
5. Adjust the remote antenna. Make the receiving level at the
remote end to have the largest value, and fix the remote an-
tenna.
6. Repeat the above steps for 2 ~ 4 times to make the receiving
level at both the local end and the remote end have the largest
value. Fix antennas at both ends.
7. Use the multimeter to test voltage at BNC port at both ends.
Read the current receiving power according to voltage at BNC
port of ODU at both ends and the Received Signal Level (RS)
curve.
8. Fasten all screws of the antenna.
END OF STEPS

Testing Inter-Site STM-1/4

Service
Short Description If there is STM-1/4 service between two sites, the service avail-
ability can be verified by testing STM-1 service.
Prerequisites The task of adjusting antennas at both ends is completed.
There is STM-1/4 service between two sites.
Steps 1. At the local equipment side, set one STM-1/4 port as inner
loopback. Use the error bit tester to test whether the port is
normal. Cancel the setting of terminal loopback after the test
is completed.
2. At the opposite equipment side, set one STM-1/4 port as inner
loopback. Use the error bit tester to test whether the port is
normal. Cancel the setting of terminal loopback after the test
is completed.
3. Repeat the above steps to test other STM-1/R ports at the local
end and the opposite end respectively.

Testing Inter-Site E1 Service

Short Description If there is E1 service between two sites, the service availability can
be verified by testing E1 service.
Prerequisites The task of adjusting antennas at both ends is completed.
There is E1 service between two sites.
Steps 1. At the local equipment side, set one E1 port as inner loopback.
Use the error bit tester to test whether the port is normal. Can-
cel the setting of terminal loopback after the test is completed.
2. At the opposite equipment side, set one E1 port as inner loop-
back. Use the error bit tester to test whether the port is nor-
mal. Cancel the setting of terminal loopback after the test is
completed.
3. Repeat the above steps to test other E1 ports at the local end
and the opposite end respectively.
END OF STEPS

Testing Inter-Site ETH

Service
Short Description If there is Ethernet service between two sites, the service avail-
ability can be verified by testing Ethernet service.
Prerequisites The Ethernet service is configured between two sites.
Steps 1. Use cross-connect Ethernet cable to connect a port of Ethernet
service at the local end with a notebook PC A.
2. Use cross-connect Ethernet cable to connect a port of Ethernet
service at the opposite end with a notebook PC B.
3. Set the IP address for notebook PC A and notebook PC B, and
make sure that the two IP addresses are in the same network
segment.
4. In the MS-DOS window of notebook PC A, execute the follow-
ing command: ping 192.168.1.102 -n 200 -l 2000. Here,
192.168.1.102 is the IP address of notebook PC B.
5. After the ping command is executed, check the transceiving
data statistics. Normally, the statistics data should not indicate
any packet loss. In other words, the following data should be
contained: Lost = 0 (0% loss)

The EOW phone is installed correctly at the site.
In WEB CIT system, make sure that the transmission unit is
enabled in EOW service configuration.
Steps 1. Check whether the EOW phone is properly connected at the
equipment at both ends.
2. Pick up the phone at the local end and dial the phone at the
opposite end. Normally, the voice quality is good after the call
is put through.
END OF STEPS
