A slave, ill-treated by his master, runs away to the forest. There he comes
across a lion in pain because of a thorn in his paw. The slave bravely goes
forward and removes the thorn gently.
Some days later, the slave’s master comes hunting to the forest and catches
many animals and cages them. The slave is spotted by the masters’ men who
catch him and bring him to the cruel master.
The master asks for the slave to be thrown into the lion’s cage.
The slave is awaiting his death in the cage when he realizes that it is the same
lion that he had helped. The slave rescued the lion and all other caged animals.
One afternoon a fox was walking through the forest and spotted a bunch of
grapes hanging from over a lofty branch.
Finally, giving up, the fox turned up his nose and said, “They’re probably sour
anyway,” and proceeded to walk away.
"Why don’t you come and chat with me," asked the Grasshopper, "instead
of toiling your life away?"
"I am helping to store up food for the winter," said the Ant, "and I
recommend you to do the same."
"Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper. "We have got plenty of
food at present."
But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil.
When winter came, the Grasshopper found itself dying of hunger, while it
saw the ants distributing, every day, corn and grain from the stores they
had collected in summer.
Once there lived a poor woodcutter. He used to cut trees in the woods. One
day he was cutting wood on the bank of a river. His axe fell down into the river.
The river was deep. He could not take his axe out. He sat on the bank and began
to weep.
Mercury, the god of water appeared. He asked the reason of his weeping. The
woodcutter told the whole story. Mercury dived into the water and brought a
golden axe. The woodcutter refused to take it. Mercury again dived and brought
a silver axe. The woodcutter did not take it either. Then he brought an iron axe.
The woodcutter took it gladly. Mercury was much pleased. He rewarded the
woodcutter with the other two axes.
He heard animals don’t prefer dead bodies, so he fell to the ground and held
his breath. The bear sniffed him Vijay and Raju were friends. On a holiday they
went walking into a forest, enjoying the beauty of nature. Suddenly they saw a
bear coming at them. They became frightened. Raju, who knew all about
climbing trees, ran up to a tree and climbed up quickly. He didn’t think of
Vijay. Vijay had no idea how to climb the tree. Vijay thought for a second. He’d
and thought he was dead. So, it went on its way. Raju asked Vijay; “What did
the bear whisper into your ears?”
Vijay replied, “The bear asked me to keep away from friends like you” …and
went on his way.
Moral of the story:
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
It was an incredibly hot day, and a lion was feeling very hungry.
He came out of his den and searched here and there. He could find only a small
hare. He caught the hare with some hesitation. “This hare can’t fill my
stomach” thought the lion.
As the lion was about to kill the hare, a deer ran that way. The lion became
greedy. He thought; “Instead of eating this small hare, let me eat the big
deer.”
He let the hare go and went behind the deer. But the deer had vanished into the
forest. The lion now felt sorry for letting the hare off.
One night four college students were out partying late night and didn’t study
for the test which was scheduled for the next day. In the morning, they thought
of a plan. They made themselves look dirty with grease and dirt. Then they went
to the Dean and said they had gone out to a wedding last night and on their way
back the tire of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back. So
they were in no condition to take the test. The Dean thought for a minute and
said they can have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they will
be ready by that time. On the third day, they appeared before the Dean. The
Dean said that as this was a Special Condition Test, all four were required to sit
in separate classrooms for the test. They all agreed as they had prepared well in
the last 3 days.
The Test consisted of only 2 questions with the total of 100 Points:
Once there was a crocodile. He was really hungry. He saw a boy. The boy had
some meat in his hand. He decided he wanted to eat both the boy and his meat.
He would trick the boy.
The crocodile said, "Oh! Little Boy! Could you please give me some meat?"
So the boy went near the crocodile to give him the meat. But, instead the
crocodile tried to catch the boy. It caught just his arm.
There came a rabbit. It wanted to help the boy. It did help the boy. The
crocodile wanted to eat the rabbit first, so he let go of the boy's arm.
The boy ran away and escaped and the rabbit too fled away. The cunning
crocodile didn't get his dinner.
There once was a shepherd boy who was bored as he sat on the hillside
watching the village sheep. To amuse himself he took a great breath and sang
out, "Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!"
The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But
when they arrived at the top of the hill, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at
the sight of their angry faces.
"Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," said the villagers, "When there's no wolf!"
They went grumbling back down the hill.
Later, the boy sang out again, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!" To
his naughty delight, he watched the villagers run up the hill to help him drive
the wolf away.
When the villagers saw no wolf they sternly said, "Save your frightened song
for when there is really something wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there is NO
wolf!"
But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once
more.
Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his
feet and sang out as loudly as he could, "Wolf! Wolf!"
But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again, and so they didn't
come.
At sunset, everyone wondered why the shepherd boy hadn't returned to the
village with their sheep. They went up the hill to find the boy. They found him
weeping.
"There really was a wolf here! The flock has scattered! I cried out, "Wolf!"
Why didn't you come?"
An old man tried to comfort the boy as they walked back to the village.
"We'll help you look for the lost sheep in the morning," he said, putting his arm
around the youth, "Nobody believes a liar...even when he is telling the truth!"
Once when a lion, the king of the jungle, was asleep, a little mouse began
running up and down on him. This soon awakened the lion, who placed his
huge paw on the mouse, and opened his big jaws to swallow him.
"Pardon, O King!" cried the little mouse. "Forgive me this time. I shall
never repeat it and I shall never forget your kindness. And who knows, I
may be able to do you a good turn one of these days!”
The lion was so tickled by the idea of the mouse being able to help him that
he lifted his paw and let him go.
Sometime later, a few hunters captured the lion, and tied him to a tree.
After that they went in search of a wagon, to take him to the zoo.
Just then the little mouse happened to pass by. On seeing the lion’s plight,
he ran up to him and gnawed away the ropes that bound him, the king of
the jungle.
"Was I not right?" said the little mouse, very happy to help the lion.
