NARESH VASHISHT

CENTRE FOR TINKERING

AND INNOVATION
DREAM TOGETHER - BUILD TOGETHER
ABOUT OUR BENEFACTOR

SHRI NARESH VASHISHT JI

From spending childhood to admiring his admission to the Indian School of

Mines, Petroleum batch 1967, Shri Naresh Vashisht had a captivating and
enlightening journey itself. Despite facing a lot of hardship right from his
childhood, it was his will to learn and a sharp mind that landed him at our
prestigious institute.
He was placed at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) but soon he
switched to Oman based company for better opportunities and better
shots. He completed his master's in petroleum engineering from Texas
A&M University and later started his own venture Omimex Petroleum
Inc. in 1987 and continued to have various profitable projects ahead.
His principles included never limiting oneself and going for every
opportunity that presents itself, and it has been one of the best
journeys you can read about.
The generous and selfless donation by Shri Vashisht has helped the
establishment of our first tinkering and innovation lab. He believes it is his
payback and contribution to the institute that laid the groundwork for
shaping him into who he was today.
He considered that it would help in the glorification of the institute and
make IIT (ISM) what it truly deserves to be recognized for. According to him,
when someone from IIT ISM does something good, and people recognize it,
their value adds up to the appreciation of the institute. He hopes this lab will
help IIT (ISM) gain more remembrance and esteem, and so will he.
