2A. . What view did the coconut man hold about parents and government?
About the parent: you must fend for yourself, don’t say please and
don’t say thanks- take what you want and be a man, be independent.
About the government: keep clear of the government, don’t ask and
don’t depend on anything from them because the government don’t
have eyes and ears. they only have mouth which it eats- eat our taxes,
eats our land, and eats the poor.
2B. Why do you think the coconut man held such view?
because he was abandon by his parents since young age and as he can
be independent by his own living he might have seen many cruel
things in society that why he hate the government.
2C. He said, “Don’t say please and don’t say thank you – take what you
want. Be a man.” What are the pros and cons that might result from
following the coconut man’s advice? Raise as many ideas and examples as
you can.
Pro: it makes people stop being weak or depend on other people. it
make people can be independent and make sure other can never look
down on them.
Con: bad behavior, bad attitude, become arrogant, and do not want to
socialize or listen to other because they think they have face many
experience until they can reach this point. it make them too proud.
3A. What did Hari feel when he smelled and saw the sea?
Hari feels sick and lonely because he was all alone in this big city.
3B. What does Hari’s situation in 3A show the nature of humans?
It shows the nature of needs.
Right now Hari needs the ensure of security which is in the safety
need , where he want a place that he could feel no threat.
another level of needs which is belonging and love needs : when he
arrived it Bombay he didn’t know anyone nor he can depend on other.
he wanted someone whom he can lean on give him an encouragement
when he was at his lowest.
3C. Do you have any similar experience(s)?
My similar experience is that when I was in the city. unfortunate, as
Covid-19 happened things just get more tough because I could not go
out to meet my family at province due to the lockdown protocol. this
was when I feel home sick and desire to meet my family the most.
5. What was Hari’s relationship with the 2 boys (his co-workers) like
at the beginning and later? Why was it so?
at the beginning they didn’t talk with each other. because
Language barried because they speak Thamil but Hari speak Marathi
They are too tired and sad to talk as their work is so tough
They are afriad of losing their job because they think that Hari come
to work instead of them.
but later they become friend because they realize that Hari is just a
co-worker in Jagu’s restaurant unlike what they think.
6.“I come from Thul which is near Alibagh,” Hari said eagerly, finding the
words rushing out like small waves of the sea, brightly and happily. (p. 94)

He feel proud of his village
He value the connection of him and his family who is far away from
each other
He could establish his identity and dignity not like the two boy who is
an orphan.

(p. 95) Raise 3 different reasons to explain Hari’s desire to buy a postcard.
After he heard the story of the two workers who were orphan, he
suddenly miss his family and wanted to write a letter to them
he wanted to inform his family that he is having a job and he will
send money to home
as he feel homesick so he thinks maybe writing a letter can help him
fell better.
7B. Why did Hari write his name in large letters to fill up all the available
space? Explain 3 possible reasons.
he doesn’t want them to know his address because he might afraid
that his drunken father and debt’s owner would come and asking for
his money
Maybe he didn’t know how to write a letter
Maybe he afraid that his sister did not know that it is a letter from
him.
8A. Lila planned carefully to get help to take her mother to hospital. Explain
the 3 major steps in Lila’s plan.
first, she goes and ask for work from Mr. de Silvas
then she starts to tell them that if they want a good bread in bazzar
they should take a car and buy it in Alibgh.
finally, she took action by asking Mr. de Silvas to take her mother to
hospital.
8B. What can be learned from Lila’s success? Raise THREE different ideas
and explain their usefulness in real life situation.
you should know how to create the opportunity and catch it when it
comes.
you should take action if you want something.
you should not depend on other too much and know when to make a
deal.
9A. What was Lila’s father’s reaction when he learned that Lila had taken
her mother to hospital?
he was so furious.

Lila did not notify him first
he thinks Lila spend all money to her mother treatment so he doesn’t
any money less for toddy
because Lila leave a sick mother at hospital alone
