and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design
documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and
management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage
projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and
life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
Information Technology is no more esoteric and exclusive to a few. Its all-pervasive and we find our day to
day lives cutting across various economic strata of the society influenced dramatically and increasing by the day. In the
past few decades there has been a revolution in computing and communications, and all indications are that
technological progress and use of information technology will continue at a more rapid pace. These advances present
many significant opportunities but also pose major challenges.
To keep abreast of these changes in technology (ies), it’s pertinent that the students of Department of IT at
ANITS are provided with the latest syllabi, laboratories, infrastructure and curriculum relevant to the industry and
changing demands.
The Department of IT at ANITS made its humble beginning in the year 2001 and today with 660 students and
29 well qualified faculty is headed by Prof Dr. Poosapati Padmaja who has over 24+ years of rich teaching and research
with deep Industryexperience.
Department of IT values professionalism, communication, integrity and discipline. These principles form the
bedrock of every activity at the department.
The session concluded with explaining the code of conduct and guidelines for maintaining highest the
discipline at ANITS and summary of the performance of alumni of the departmentat various national and state level
competitions. Finally, the session ended with a warm wish to all the students’ good luck for their journeyahead.
The goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun - and the resilience to
hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.
Session-5 Topic: A tour to get familiarize the common amenities of the college like Library,
laboratories of IT department and 1st year labs, central facilities(in Groups)
Mr.Ch.D.Naidu,Sr.Asst.Prof,IT started session with warm welcome and the introduction to myself and later
I discussed about the common amenities of the college like Central library, first year laboratories (Chemistry and
Physics), sports room and gymnasium, cafeteria, playground and department laboratories.
Later I took all the students to chemistry lab, where Dr.Padmaja,HoD Chemistry , introduced about the first
year chemistry laboratory experiments. Later I took them to Workshop where Mr.Raja, Technician Dept.of
Mechanical Engineering addressed the students about the 3 types of lab experiments Carpentry, Tinsmith & Fitting.
Later I took them to Physics laboratory where Prof.P.Venkateswarlu, HoD, Physics, introduced about first year
laboratory experiments and the evaluation process. Later I took them to central library and I addressed about the
facilities available and the process of utilizing the books, online links, journals, newspapers and internet. Later I took
them to sports and gymnasium room, cafeteria and playground. Later I took them to the laboratories available with the
department and discussed about the labs conducting in each laboratory and the configurations of systems .

Session-3Topic: Orientation about the NSS activities and Enrolment into different clubs of
the college – especially into NSS unit of ANITS
Dr.V.Suresh, K.V.Chandra Sekhar, Asst.professor, department of IT Provided a detailed orientation about
the NSS activities and Enrolment into different clubs of the college – especially into NSS unit of ANITS.
In India, the idea of involving students in the task of
national service dates to the times of Mahatma Gandhi, the
father of the nation. The first duty of the students should be,
not to treat their period of study as one of the opportunities for
indulgence in intellectual luxury, but for preparing themselves
for final dedication in the service of those who provided the
sinews of the nation with the national goods & services so
essential to society.
Advising them to form a living contact with the
community in whose midst their institution is located, he
suggested that instead of undertaking academic research about
economic and socialdisability, the students should do
"something positive so that the life of the villagers might be
raised to a higher material and moral level".
With this bac context of NSS, students were appraised of the various NSS initiatives at ANITS such as
Lifesaving activities like “Blood Donation” camp on National blood donation day in association with Lions Club blood
bank, relief camp for the victims of Srikakulam cyclone (TITLY). Students were introduced to various eco-friendly
activities such as Swacchh ANITS, tree plantation and seminar on VANAM-MANAM on Krishna pushkaralu
movement on having Eco-Ganesha which includes Bucket Ganesha were alsoconducted.
Session-4 Topic: Physical Activity / Sports
The session regarding the importance of sports and the facilities available in ANITS has been initiated by welcoming
the first-year students conducted by Mrs. M. Swathi and Mr.D. Satya Prasad Assistant Professor, IT, ANITS. We
explained how the physical activity ensures healthy growth and development in young people and what are sports
facilities available in the college such as Volley ball courts,Basketball court,Badminton court(outdoor), Cricket and
football ground and Indoor games (caroms, chess, table tennis). All the students are motivated towards the importance
of sports /physical activity in a student life.
The students are also been introduced to the importance of immunity and mental strength and doing regular physical
activity is proven to help prevent and manage noncommunicable diseases. To make a person healthy, sports are a very
good option to consider. At the end of the session, we take them to play ground and conducted some events.
