1. PURPOSE

The purposes of conducting Initial Drug Testing are the following:


1.1 Compliance to DOLE Department Order 53-03 or Drugfree Workplace
Program

1.2 Provide a safe workplace for employees

1.3 Be able to identify early and appropriately refer employees who have drug
problems

2. SCOPE

This policy applies to all Magnakron Oleo Philippines, Inc. employees

3. DEFINITIONS

3.1 A drug test - is a technical analysis of a biological specimen, for


example urine, hair, blood, breath, sweat, and/or oral fluid/saliva—to
determine the presence or absence of specified parent drugs or
their metabolites.

4. RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1 Occupational Health Nurse – Responsible in preparation for the activity,
obtaining consent, gathering data and processing the referral process if
found positive from the screening drug test

4.2 Safety Officers – Will assist/guide the employees in conducting the test

4.3 Security Services – Will maintain the Security and Orderliness of the activity
and will conduct frisking to employees before entering the Testing Area

4.4 DOH Accredited Drug Test Laboratory – will facilitate the testing and
interpretation of the Random Drug Test Activity

5. PROCEDURE

5.1 After passing the selection process, successful applicant will undergo
screening drug tested
5.1.1 The Occupational Health Nurse will explain the procedure and will
obtain consent for the procedure with the use of the Drug Test
Consent Form (MK-FM-EHS-011)
5.1.2 Wondfo One Step MET-THC Urine Test Kit (FDA Reg No. RR-
1647) will be use Interpreted following the Manufacturer’s Guide
5.1.3 Drug test will be conducted which the OHN and a security officer
will be the witness
5.1.4 OHN will interpret the result according to the manufacturers guide.
5.1.4.1 Candidate with negative result may proceed to the
next step of the process
5.1.4.2 Candidate with positive result will be referred to DOH
Accredited Drug Test Laboratory immediately for
confirmation of the Screening Drug Test performed
5.1.4.3 If a candidate able to obtain a negative result from the
DOH Accredited Drug Test Laboratory that’s the only
time that he/she can proceed to the next hiring process

5.2 For a Scheduled Random Drug Testing Activity, all randomly selected
employees will be gathered and the security will make sure that no one will
be allowed to leave the premises until the test is done to them.
5.2.1 The objective, procedure and other important information will be
explained to employees before the start of the activity and Drug
Test Consent Form (MK-EHS-FM-011) will be obtained by the OHN
5.2.2 Each Employee will be given 1 testing kit with their employee
number indicated and date it was taken
5.2.3 A Security Officer will frisk employee before entering the Testing
Area
5.2.4 Security officers will facilitate the urine collection activity to make
sure that the specimen will not be tampered or exchanged with
another employee
5.2.5 Specimen will be brought to the DOH Accredited Drug Test
Laboratory’s representative for the test and interpretation.
5.2.6 Employees who got negative result will immediately be sent back to
their work area
5.2.7 Employees who got positive result will be ask to stay in a separate
room and result will be forwarded to the HRA Department to
facilitate the next step according to the Drug-free workplace Policy
and Program (RA 9165)
