The agent in the said situation could be the authorities and the moral dilemma at hand is having to
choose between two conflicting sides— to inflict pain in the loved ones of the culprit or choose not to
because it is morally wrong but has to note that if this choice be chosen, a number of people would be
affected and suffer. Though we could say that the latter weighs way heavier than the former, we can’t
also say that quantity is a means of weighing things in this critical state. Human rights were also at stake
in this case, and violence should never be a means of settling things. It is apparently prohibited in the
eyes of the law, and persons in authority are not exempted to that provision. But that could be their last
resort. At the end of the day, no matter how much we argue about two opposing sides, we still has to
find which choice elevated over the other—to save the lives of millions of people, even if that means
going against the law prescribed. Moral dilemma it is.
