REGULATIONS
Citation 1.This regulation may be cited as the Fire and Rescue Force (Safety Inspections
and Certificates) Amendment Regulations, 2012 and shall be read as one with
The Fire and Rescue Force (Safety Inspections and Certificate) Regulations, 2008.
“Category” means a category of property use mentioned in first and second schedule
“Drive –in shopping centre area:, means a prescribes property that includes -----
a) 2 or more shops, whether or not in the same building; and
b) Car parking for customers.
“Fuel Service Station” means a facility which sells fuel and usually lubricants for motor
vehicle.
“Godown”: A place adapted to the reception and storage of goods and merchandise.
“Inspection fee” means the fee, charges and other non-tax revenue arising from the
inspection of various properties and premises in their area of jurisdiction.
“Landscaping” means an area of land treated, to enhance or protect the amenities of the
land or its locality, by:
a) screening with fences, walls or in another way: or
b) planting trees, hedges, shrubs or grass: or
c) forming banks, terraces or other earthworks: or
d) laying out gardens or courts; or
e) constructing walkways or tracks.
“Premises” means the building and land near to it that a business owns or uses.
“Substation” means a subsidiary station for a service, including, for example, a service for
supplying electricity, gas or water, a telecommunications service, or a service for removing
sewage.
“Tanzania Revenue Authority” means the authority established by the Tanzania
Authority Act.
The Certificate issued sub-regulation 3 (2) shall be valid for a period of one
year from the date of issue, there after the property owner shall apply for it
to be renewed.
(ii) By adding immediately after sub regulation 3(3) that would be sub regulation (4)
Any owner of the property, premises, vehicle, vessel who fails t renew his Fire
Safety Certificate within one month after its expiry will be required to pay the
principal amount payable in respect of that property plus penalty of twenty five
per centum (25%) for late payment.
(iii) By adding immediately after sub regulation 3(4) that would be sub regulation

The fee payable for vehicle shall be paid to the Commissioner General of Tanzania
Revenue Authority on behalf of Commissioner General of Fire and Rescue Force,
and all payment shall be done through Authorized banks.
4. The Principal Regulation is amended by substuting the Second Schedule with First
Substuting and Schedule of the amended regulation and adding the Third Schedule immediately
