System  requirement:  
Before  installing  IBM  Lotus  Notes/Domino  products,  please  refer

Skill  requirement:  
• Have  operating  system  knowledge  such  as  operating  system  
installation  and  configuration.  
• Have  network  knowledge  such  as  TCPIP  and  DNS.  

Practice  1:  Installation  and  setup  

IBM  Lotus  Domino  Server  
 
Follow  these  steps  to  install  a  Lotus  Domino  server.  
 
Step   Action  
1   Make  sure  that  the  required  hardware  and  software  components  are  in  
place  and  working  
2   Run  the  install  program  (SETUP.EXE)  
3   Read  the  Welcome  screen,  and  click  Next.  Then  read  the  License  
 Agreement  and  click  I  accept  the  terms  in  the  license  agreement,  and  
then  click  Next  
4   Program  directory,  C:\IBM\Lotus\Domino  
 
Specify  the  program  directory.  Click  Next  
5   Data  directory,  C:\IBM\Lotus\Domino\Data  
 
Specify  the  data  directory  in  which  to  copy  the  software.  Click  Next  
6   Choose  Domino  Enterprise  Server.  Click  Next  
7   Review  the  summary  information,  and  then  select  Next  to  begin  
installing  files.  Click  Next  
8   Click  Finish  to  complete  the  install  program  
 
Follow  these  steps  to  setup  IBM  Lotus  Domino  server  
 
Step   Action  
1   Choose  Start  -­‐  Programs  -­‐  Lotus  Applications  -­‐  Lotus  Domino  Server,  or  
use  the  icons  on  your  Desktop  to  start  the  server  setup  program  
2   Choose  First  Server.  Click  Next  
3   Specify  the  server  name:  DOMINOSERVER.  Click  Next  
4   Specify  the  Organization  name:  ACMECorp.  
Specify  the  Organization  Certifier  Password:  passw0rd.  
Click  Next  
5   Specify  the  Domino  domain  name:  ACME.  
Click  Next  
6   Specify  the  Administrator  name:  Administrator.  
Specify  the  Administrator  password:  passw0rd.  
Check  –  Also  save  a  local  copy  of  the  ID  file.  
Click  Next  
7   Specify  the  internet  services.  
Check  -­‐-­‐  Web  browser  [HTTP  services]  
Uncheck  –  Directory  services  [LDAP  services]  
Click  Next  
8   Specify  the  Domino  network  setting.  Click  Customize.  
Uncheck  –  NetBIOS.  
Type  the  fully  qualified  internet  host  name  for  this  Domino  server:  
dominoserver.acmecorp.com.  Click  OK  
Click  Next  
9   Secure  your  Domino  Server.  Click  Next  
10   Click  Setup.  Server  setup  running  
11   Click  Finish  to  complete  the  Domino  server  setup.  
12   Choose  Start  -­‐  Programs  -­‐  Lotus  Applications  -­‐  Lotus  Domino  Server,  or  
use  the  icons  on  your  Desktop  to  start  the  Domino  server.  

IBM  Lotus  Notes  and  Domino  Administration  Client  

 
Follow  these  steps  to  install  IBM  Lotus  Notes  and  Domino  Administration  Client.  
 
 Step   Action  
1   Make  sure  that  the  required  hardware  and  software  components  are  in  
place  and  working  
2   Run  the  install  program  (SETUP.EXE)  
3   Read  the  Welcome  screen,  and  click  Next.  Then  read  the  License  
Agreement  and  click  I  accept  the  terms  in  the  license  agreement,  and  
then  click  Next  
4   Specify  Customer  Information.  Click  Next  
5   Program  directory,  C:\IBM\Lotus\Notes

Specify  the  data  directory  in  which  to  copy  the  software.  Click  Next  
7   Choose  Notes  Client  and  Domino  Administrator.  Click  Next  
8   Click  Next.  Installation  running.  
7   Review  the  summary  information,  and  then  select  Next  to  begin  
installing  files.  Click  Next  
8   Click  Finish  to  complete  the  install  program  
 
Follow  these  steps  to  setup  IBM  Lotus  Notes  and  Domino  Administration  client.  
 
Step   Action  
1   Choose  Start  -­‐  Programs  -­‐  Lotus  Applications  -­‐  Lotus  Notes,  or  use  the  
icons  on  your  Desktop  to  start  the  Lotus  Notes  setup  program  
2   Read  the  Welcome  screen,  and  click  Next.  Click  Next  
3   Specify  the  User  Information.  
Your  name:  Administrator.    
Domino  Server:  DOMINOSERVER/ACMECorp.  
Click  Next  
4   Input  the  Administrator  Password  id:  passw0rd.  
5   Uncheck  setup  instant  messaging  
Click  Next  
6   Additional  Services.  
Click  Finish  
11   Dialog  box  appears  “Notes  setup  is  complete!”  Click  OK  

Practice  2:  IBM  Lotus  Domino  Administration  Preferences  

 
Follow  these  steps  to  customize  Domino  Administration  –  Preferences  
 
Step   Action  
1   From  the  Domino  Administrator,  choose  File  -­‐  Preferences  -­‐  
Administration  Preferences  
2   Administration  Preferences  appears.  
3   Basic  Tab:  
1. Manage  these  Domino  Domain:  ACME.  Click  Edit  if  you  want  to  
 change  location  setting  and  Directory  server.  
2. Domino  Administrator  Startup  Setting:  
• Click  drop  down  menu,  choose  Connect  to  specific  server,  
click  server  button,  choose  startup  domain:  ACME,  choose  
startup  server:  DEMOSERVER/ACMECorp  
• Check  other  option  if  you  want  to  change  it.  
4   Explore  Files,  Monitoring  and  Statistic  tab.  
5   Registration  Tab:  
1. Registration  domain:  ACME  
2. Create  Notes  IDs  for  new  users:  
• Click  Certifier  ID:  [choose  certifier  id  file],  insert  certifier  id  
password:  passw0rd,  OK  
• Click  Registration  Server:  [Select  a  registration  server]  
DOMINOSERVER/ACMECorp,  OK  
• Click  Mail  Options:  
o Mail  System:  Lotus  Notes  
o Mail  Server:  DOMINOSERVER/ACMECorp  
o Click  Create  file  in  background  
o Mail  file  template:  Mail  (R8.5)  
o Advanced  mail  options:  
 Mail  file  owner  access:  Editor.  
 Click  set  database  quota:  50  
 Click  set  warning  threshold:  45  
 Click  OK  
o Click  Internet  Address:  acmecorp.com  
o Click  OK  
• Click  User  ID/Password  Options:  
o Person  ID  file  Folder:  
C:\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data\ids\people  
o Password  Options:  drag  to  5,  OK  
o Click  OK  
• Click  Server/Certifier  Registration:  
o Server  ID  file  properties:  
 ID  file  folder:

 Click  password  option:  0,  OK  
o Certifier  ID  file  properties:

Practice  3:  Registration  

Organizational  unit  certifier  ID  registration  
 
Follow  these  steps  to  register  Organization  Unit.  
  
Step   Action  
1   From  the  Domino  Administrator,  click  the  Configuration  tab.  
2   From  the  Tools  pane,  select  Registration  -­‐  Organizational  Unit.  
3   Choose  a  Certifier  dialog  box  appears.  Click  OK  
4   Insert  certifier  password:  passw0rd.  Click  OK  
5   Register  2  (two)  Organization  Unit  Certifier:  
1. IT,  password:  passw0rd  
2. SALES,  password:  passw0rd.  
 
Complete  these  fields:  
• Organization  Unit:  
• Certifier  password:  
• Click  Register  
• Click  OK  

User  registration  
 
Follow  these  steps  to  register  new  user.  
 
Step   Action  
1   From  the  Domino  Administrator,  click  the  People  &  Groups  tab.  
2   From  the  Tools  pane,  select  People  -­‐  Register.  
3   Certifier  dialog  box  appears.  Insert  certifier  password:  passw0rd.  Click  
OK  
Note:  
If  you  want  to  choose  another  certifier,  click  cancel,  choose  a  certifier  
dialog  box  appears,  click  Certifier  ID,  choose  appropriate  certifier  id,  
OK  and  then  insert  certifier  password.  
5   Register  5  (five)  Peoples  under  3  (three)  certifier:  
1. ACMECorp:  
a. William  Smith,  password:  passw0rd  
2. IT  
a. James  Steven,  password:  passw0rd  
b. Mark  Houston,  password:  passw0rd  
3. SALES  
a. Samantha  Fie,  password:  passw0rd  
b. Susan  Chong,  password:  passw0rd  
6   Register  Person  dialog  box  appears  
7   Click  Advanced  
8   Complete  these  fields:  
• Basic  Tab:  
o First  name:  
o Last  name:  
o Password:  
o Click  Password  Options:  
 Check    “Set  internet  password”  
• ID  Info  Tab:  
o Check  “in  file”  
 • Click  “Green  Check  Button”  
9   To  register  another  user  with  their  own  certifier  id,  please  do:  
• ID  Info  tab:  
o Click  Certifier  ID  button,  choose  appropriate  certifier  ID  
by  click  Certifier  ID  button,  OK  
o Insert  certifier  password  id,  OK  
• Do  Step  8  
10   Click  Register  All  
11   Done  

Practice  4:  IBM  Lotus  Notes  Client  –  Create  Multiple  Profiles  

 
Follow  these  steps  to  create  multiple  profiles  
 
Step   Action  
1   From  the  IBM  Lotus  Notes  Client  desktop.  
2   Open  local  private  contacts  database  
3   Click  Advanced  
4   Click  Location  
5   Click  Online  -­‐-­‐  Edit  
6   Click  Advanced  Tab  
7   Click  User  ID  to  switch  to:  -­‐-­‐  Choose  path  ID  file  dialog  box  appears.  
8   Drop  down  files  of  type  menu  -­‐-­‐  choose  id  files  
9   Choose  appropriate  user  id  file  (admin.id)  –  select.  
10   Click  save  and  close  
12   Create  location  for  William  Smith  –  do  step  2  to  4  –  click  new  –  location.  
13   Complete  these  fields.  
Basic  Tab:  
1. Location  name:  William  Smith  
2. Internet  mail  address:  William.Smith@acmecorp.com  
Servers  Tab:  
1. Home/mail  server:  DOMINOSERVER/ACMECorp.  
Mail  Tab:

Create  ID  Vault  
 
Follow  these  steps  to  complete  create  ID  Vault  
 
Step   Action  
1   Create  ID  Vault  for  ACMECorp,  IT  and  SALES  
2   From  the  Domino  Administrator,  click  the  Configuration  tab.  
3   From  the  Tools  pane,  select  ID  Vaults  -­‐-­‐  Create  
4   Create  and  Configure  Notes  ID  Vault  dialog  box  appears.  
5   Click  Next  
6   Complete  these  fields:  
1. Notes  ID  vault  name:  CompanyVault  
2. Notes  ID  vault  descrption:  [optional].  Click  Next  
3. Vault  ID  password  
a. Password:  passw0rd  
b. Verify:  passw0rd  
4. Vault  ID  file  location:  C:\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data\ids\vault\  
[name  of  vault].  Click  Next  
5. Vault  Server:  DOMINOSERVER/ACMECorp.  Click  Next  
6. The  Following  administrator  can  manage  the  Notes  ID  vault:  
Administrator/ACMECorp.  Click  Next  
7. Organization  or  Organization  Units  of  the  Notes  ID  vault  users:  
/ACMECorp,  IT/ACMECorp,  SALES/ACMECorp.  Click  Add  or  
Remove  button  to  put  it.  Click  Next.  
8. Click  IT/ACMECorp  –  Click  Administrator  –  Add  
9. Click  /ACMECorp  –  Click  Administrator  –  Add  
10. Click  SALES/ACMECorp  –  Click  Administrator  –  Add  
11. Click  Next  
12. Create  or  edit  ID  vault  policy  settings  –  Click  Create  a  new  policy  
assigned  to  an  organization  –  click  next.  
13. Select  organizations  to  which  this  policy  will  be  assigned  –  click  
add  or  remove  button  –  select  IT/ACMECorp,  /ACMECorp,  
SALES/ACMECorp,  OK  
14. Click  Next  
15. Forgotten  Password  help  text  appears,  fill  “  Please  Contact  your  
Domino  Administrator”.  OK  
16. Click  Create  Vault.  
17. If  Choose  a  certifier  dialog  box  appears,  please  select  the  
appropriate  id  file  by  click  browse  button.  
18. Insert  id  password.  
19. Done.  

Manage  ID  Vault  

 
Step   Action  
1   Create  ID  Vault  for  ACMECorp,  IT  and  SALES  
2   From  the  Domino  Administrator,  click  the  Configuration  tab  –  Security  
 –  ID  Vaults.  
3   From  the  Tools  pane,  select  ID  Vaults  -­‐-­‐  Manage  
4   Click  Edit  vault  description.  Click  Next  
5   Insert  vault  description  “Acme  Corp  vault”.  Click  Next  
6   Click  Configure  
7   You  may  explore  as  necessary.  

Viewing  the  ID  Vault  

 
1. Vault  Certificates:  
a. From  the  Domino  Administrator,  Click  the  Configuration  Tab  –  
Security  –  Certificates.  
b. Vault  Trust  Certificates:

2. Vault  Policies:  
a. From  the  Domino  Administrator,  Click  the  People  and  Groups  Tab  
–  Policies.

Testing  ID  Vault  –  Resetting  Password  

 
1. Domino  Administrator  Task  
1. From  the  Domino  Administrator,  Click  the  People  and  Groups  Tab  
2. People  view  –  Click  one  of  the  users  [Samantha  Fie]  
3. Tools  –  ID  vaults  –  Reset  Password  
4. Reset  User’s  Password  dialog  box  appears:  
a. Specify  New  password:  P@ssw0rd  
b. Specify  Confirm  new  password:  P@ssw0rd  
5. Click  Reset  Password  button  
6. Password  Reset  confirms  appears.  
7. OK  
 
2. Lotus  Notes  User  [Samantha  Fie]  
1. Close  Lotus  Notes  /  Domino  Administrator  Desktop  
2. Open  Lotus  Notes  Client  
3. Choose  Samantha  Fie  Location

Practice  6:  Domino  Attachment  and  Object  Services  (DAOS)  

Enabling  DAOS  
 
Step   Action  
1   From  the  Domino  Administrator,  click  the  Configuration  tab.  
2   Expand  Server  –  All  Server  Documents  
3   Select  DOMINOSERVER/ACMECorp  –  Click  Edit  Server  Button  
4   Click  Transactional  Logging  Tab  
5   On  Basic  –  Transactional  logging  field:  Enabled,  OK  
Complete  these  field:  
• Maximum  log  space:  500  MB  
6   Click  DAOS  Tab  
7   On  DAOS  Settings  –  Store  file  attachments  in  DAOS:  Enabled,  OK  
8   Save  and  Close  
9   Click  the  Files  Tab  –  mail  
10   Select  all  mail  file  databases  –  Tools  –  Database  –  Advanced  Propeties  
11   Check  select  and  Enable  on  Use  Domino  Attachment  and  Object  Service  
and  also  Use  LZ1  compression  for  attachments.  
12   OK  
13   From  Domino  Server  console  –  type  Restart  Server  –  Enter,  wait  until  
Domino  running.  

Verifying  DAOS  
 
1. From  Windows  Explorer  find  DAOS  and  Transactional  Logging  directory.  
a. DAOS:  C:\DAOS  
b. Transactional  Logging:  C:\logdir  
2. From  Domino  Server  Console  
a. Run  Domino  Console  Command:  Show  Task  
DAOS  Manager   Resync:Idle  
DAOS  Manager   Prune:Idle  
DAOS  Manager   DbDelete:Idle  
DAOS  Manager   Adopt:Idle  
DAOS  Manager   Idle  
3. Testing  send  mail  with  attachment  size.  
a. From  Lotus  Domino  Administrator  –  Files  –  mail  –  see  logical  size  
and  physical  size  
b. From  Domino  Server  console  –  run  command  “tell  daosmgr  
dbsummary”,  “tell  daosmgr  status  databases”
