1．Subject
Information on Inmarsat-C/mini-C new software release for improvement of data error of internal GPS.
2．Objective Equipment
(1) Objective Equipment: JUE-85 / 87 / 95SA / 95VM / 95LT
(2) Objective EME: Current EME (NAF-253GM / NAF-253SA / NAF-253VM / NAF-253LT)
(3) Objective internal GPS: CCA-600 (EME manufactured until around June 2017 is object.)
Serial numbers of EME (NAF-253 series) equipped with CCA-600 are as follows.
JUE-87 EME serial numbers: GR52440 or earlier (Repair serial numbers: GR92483 or earlier)
JUE-85 EME serial numbers: (Repair serial Numbers: GR92408 or earlier)
JUE-95SA EME serial numbers: GR49741 or earlier (Repair serial numbers: GR92103 or earlier)
JUE-95VM EME serial numbers: GR52630 or earlier (Repair serial numbers: GR92508 or earlier)
JUE-95LT EME serial numbers: GR49781 or earlier (Repair serial numbers: GR92096 or earlier)
* The EME (NAF-253 series) serial numbers shipped for repair is the number after GR90000.
* JUE-85 EME (NAF-253 series) is shipped for repair only.
Note: In case of the confirmation work of EME serial number is difficult, refer to the IME Serial number for
approximate reference as IME serial number GR62000 or earlier is object.
3. Outlines
3.1 Information
(1) Internal GPS (CCA-600) installed in current EME (NAF-253 series) might have a symptom (false rollover)
that is similar to rollover that the date information becomes past date before 19.6 years, in rare cases.
In this case, scheduled transmission function might terminate or messages containing incorrect date / time
/ location information would be sent in Distress alert, SSAS message and position reporting, etc.
Therefore, new ACSE software for Inmarsat-C/mini-C JUE-85 / 87 / 95SA / 95VM / 95LT which improves
this false rollover have been released.
(2) If the internal GPS installed in the EME (NAF-253 series) is CCA-700JZ, no correspondence is required.
And if EME is NAF-741GM or NAF-742SA / VM / LT, no correspondence is also required.

3.2 Countermeasures
(1) Confirm the model type of internal GPS installed in EME (NAF-253 series). (See the attachment 4.)
* Since JUE-85 / 87 has a display, users can check the model type of internal GPS.
* The standard configuration of the JUE-95 series is not equipped with a display, so a service engineer
must bring a PC and visit the ship to check the model type of internal GPS.
(2) If the CCA-600 is installed, please update to the new software in accordance with the following tables.
Please note that the function does not correctly work unless the following software version combination.

1. Outline
This manual explains update procedure of Inmarsat-C JUE-87 software.
・DTE software* (Maintenance Number: 02.01)

・IME software* (Maintenance Number: 02.00)
・ACSE(EME) software (Maintenance Number: 02.03) (New)
*: There are DTE software and IME software in IME(NTF-318).
2. Preparation
2-1 Update equipment

(1) Prepare below parts

(2) Connect each equipment, as shown in following.

3-1 DTE software update

It takes about 5 minutes for a software update of DTE.
(1) Turn on the IME.

(2) The boot screen will be displayed about 5 seconds after turning on the IME.
Press the ‘N’+ ‘D’+ ‘Z’ keys during “now loading” in the boot screen.
The maintenance mode will be initiated.

(3) Press up key or down key, select [4. Software Upgrade] and press ‘Enter’ key on Maintenance
Menu screen. Software Upgrade menu screen (refer to Fig.3-1b) will be displayed.

(4) Press up key or down key, select [1. Target] and press ‘Enter’ key on Software Upgrade menu
screen (refer to Fig.3-1b).
(5) Press up key or down key, select “DTE Main” and press ‘Enter’ key.

(6) Confirm Software Version in [3. Current Maintenance Info.].

When Version is "02.01", the update of DTE software is unnecessary.

(7) Press up key or down key, select [2. Input Port] and press ‘Enter’ key on Software Upgrade menu
(8) Press up key or down key, select “USB Memory” and press ‘Enter’ key.
2.Input Port : USB Memory
(9) Insert the USB Flash memory which contains DTE Main software and auxiliary file for recovery
to the DTE.
NOTE
- USB symbol will be displayed next to screen title when USB Flash memory is inserted.
- To remove the USB Flash memory safely, press ‘Shift + R’ keys.
(10) Press up key or down key, select [4. File Selection] and press ‘Enter’ key on Software Upgrade
menu screen (refer to Fig.3-1b).
(11) Press up key or down key, select DTE Main software and press ‘Enter’ key.

3-2 Export
Save the each parameter into a file or print out before the ACSE/IME updating, because the updating
clears all the parameters of ACSE/IME.
The parameters can be/ cannot be restored after saved are:

 Can be restored
Setting of peripheral function (automatic print, printer connection, port setting, etc.)
Address Book of TELEX/Facsimile/Data (PSDN)
NCS information, LES name, Schedule transmission setting, SSAS setting,
Land ID registration for polling, and EGC reception selecting
 Cannot be restored
Ocean Region selection, received message, EGC message, alarm pack, PV test result,
and SSAS password, etc.
NOTE
1. About the data of received message, EGC message, and alarm pack, save them to a file or
print out, because upgrading software clears all of them away.
2. Please wait about 30 seconds after initiating to maintenance modeuntil communication

between EME-IME starts.

Press the ‘N’+ ‘D’ + ‘Z’ keys during “now loading” in the boot screen.
(3) Press up key or down key, select [5. Inmarsat-C Setting & Checking] and press ‘Enter’ key on
Maintenance Menu screen. Then, select [Export/Import] and press ‘Enter’ key.
Export/Import screen (refer to Fig.3-2b) will be displayed.

(4) Press [Export] in Fig.3-2b (Fig.3-2c will be displayed).

3-4 ACSE (EME) software update

It takes about 20 minutes for a software update of ACSE.
NOTE
Be careful about the following thing about update work.
･When a power supply of a terminal became off while doing an update, there is a possibility
that JUE-87 doesn't start. The update is possible even in that case. Try an update once again.

This manual explains update procedure of Inmarsat-C JUE-85-A/95-A series ACSE(EME)
software. (Maintenance Number: 10.57)

3. Procedure
3-1 Outlines
1) ACSE(EME) software upgrading preparation

When Maintenance Number is "10.57", the update of ACSE software is unnecessary.
4) ACSE(EME) software upgrading

It takes about 20 minutes for a software upgrading of ACSE.
5) Maintenance Number confirmation after upgrading
6) SRAM/FROM Clear

NOTE
Please note the following matters for upgrading.
1. JUE-85 might not shift to the update mode due to the compatibility of PC and the USB
serial conversion cable. In this case, please try the work about ten times repeatedly.
The mode might shift normally when several times tried.
2. JUE-85 might not start normally after turning off the power supply of the terminal during
upgrading. Even in this case, upgrading is also possible.
Try upgrading again.
3-2 Details
1) ACSE(EME) software upgrading preparation

Connect each equipment, as shown in Fig.1. Then turn ON the power supply of IME.

※ The following pages provide instructions on how to update JUE-85-A. When

updating JUE-95 SA-A / 95VM-A / 95LT-A, replace JUE-85-A with each model.

2) Export
Save the each parameter into a file or print out before the ACSE/IME updating, because the
updating clears all the parameters of ACSE/IME.
The parameters can be/ cannot be restored after saved are:

 Can be restored
Setting of peripheral function (automatic print, printer connection, port setting, etc.),
Address Book of TELEX/Facsimile/Data (PSDN), NCS information, LES name,
Schedule transmission setting, SSAS setting,Land ID registration for polling, and EGC
reception selecting
 Cannot be restored
Ocean Region selection, received message, EGC message, alarm pack, PV test result, and
SSAS password, etc.
NOTE
About the data of received message, EGC message, and alarm pack, save them to a file or print
out, because upgrading software clears all of them away.

(1) Activate the PC tool [winIST_CN149] on your PC.
(2) Click [Export/Import] from MENU LIST. Then, the column of [Export/Import] is displayed in
the right side of the screen (refer to Fig.2).

(3) Click [EXPORT] of [Export/Import] column in Fig.2 (Fig.3 is displayed).

(4) Enter the name of Export file and click [Save] (Fig.4 is displayed).

(5) Click [Yes] in Fig.4. Then the Export is started and Fig.5 is displayed.

(6) Fig.6 is displayed when the Export is completed. Click [OK].

3) Maintenance Number confirmation before upgrading

(2) Click [Alarm Pack] from MENU LIST. Then, the column of [Alarm Pack] is displayed in the
right side of the screen (refer to Fig.7).

(4) Confirm that Model is "JUE-85-A".

(5) Confirm that Maintenance Number in ACSE Main.
When Maintenance Number is "10.57", the update of ACSE software is unnecessary.

4) ACSE(EME) software upgrading
(1) Activate PC tool [winIST_CN149] on the PC.

(2) Click [Update] from MENU LIST. [Update] column is displayed in right side (refer
to Fig.9).

(3) Select [ACS] in the [Update] column of [Target] (refer to Fig.10).

(4) When the dialog box of Fig.A1.2.1.3c is displayed, turn OFF the power switch of the IME. And
click [OK] after the LED of the IME is automatically turned off.

(5) When the dialog box of Fig.12 is displayed, turn ON the power switch of the IME.

(6) The dialog box of Fig.A1.2.1.3e is displayed when the acquisition of terminal software
information is succeeded. Click [OK].

(7) When [OK] button in Fig.13 (dialog box) is clicked, the screen is returned to ACSE/IME
software updating screen and [Old module OK] is displayed in the [Information] column of
[Old] (refer to Fig.14).

(8) Click [FILE SELECT] button and display [File Select] dialog box (refer to Fig.15).

(9) When ACSE software [JUE85-A_ACS1054.jrc] is selected at Fig.15, the screen is return to
ACSE/IME software updating screen and [It is possible to update!] is displayed in the lower
part of [Update] column (refer to Fig.16).

(10) Click [Update] button at Fig.16 (Fig.17 is displayed).

(11) Click [Yes] in Fig.17. Then the updating is started and Fig.18 is displayed during updating.

When the power source of the terminal is turned off during update, repeat the procedure from (3).
(12) Fig.19 is displayed when updating is completed. Click [OK].

(13) Restart Inmarsat-C terminal in a power switch of IME.

Confirmation Procedure of Internal GPS Type

1. Outline
This manual explains confirmation procedure of internal GPS type for Inmarsat-C/mini-C with
NAF-253’s series. If CCA-600 is installed, confirm the software version and update according to
the attachment 2 or attachment 3.
2. Confirmation procedure of internal GPS type
2-1 Confirmation method in JUE-87/JUE-85 with IME/DTE

(1) Turn on the IME(DTE).
(2) Press ‘Alt + A’ keys on main menu. (Fig.1 will be displayed)

(3) Select [Alarm history] and press ‘Enter’ key on Diagnostics Menu. (Fig.2 will be displayed).

(4) Confirm the internal GPS type in the item ‘G:’. *1

G:6 → CCA-600
G:7 → CCA-700JZ
G:N → Uncertain or before initial setting *2
*1 If NAF-253GM is equipped for JUE-85, the item ‘G:’ is displayed. And if NAF-741GM is
equipped, the item ‘G:’ is not displayed, and in that case, ACSE software update is unneccesary.
*2 ‘N’ may be displayed for about one minute after Inmarsat-C terminal starts up.
However, Inmarsat-C terminal has no problem, if ‘6’ or ’7’ is displayed after one minute.

2-2 Confirmation method in JUE-85 / 95SA / 95VM / 95LT with winIST

(1) Connect your PC to IME and activate the PC tool [winIST_CN149] on the PC.
(3) Select the item ‘Alarm Pack’ in the menu list, and click ‘READ’. (Fig.3 will be displayed)

(4) Confirm the internal GPS in the item ‘G:’. *1

G:6 → CCA-600
G:7 → CCA-700JZ
G:N → Uncertain or before initial setting *2
*1 If NAF-253 series is equipped, the item ‘G:’ is displayed. And if NAF-741 / NAF-742
series are equipped, the item ‘G’ is not displayed, and in that case, ACSE software update is
unneccesary.
*2 ‘N’ may be displayed for about one minute after Inmarsat-C terminal starts up.
However, Inmarsat-C terminal has no problem, if ‘6’ or ’7’ is displayed after one minute.
