Mexican regions.

Pátzcuaro was the first magical town in the state of Michoacán. It is located south of
the lake, in the center of the state.

In ancient times it used to be a center of great religious and ceremonial relevance for
the Purepechas. Over time, this region inherited a series of pre-Hispanic customs
that are preserved to this day.

The tourist, gastronomic and artistic offer is enormous. Its inhabitants are known
for creating handicrafts of wood and wrought iron, as well as pottery and textile
products. One of the best dishes is the Tarascan tamales, prepared with fresh fish
from the lake.

This site is also one of the most sought-after destinations to admire the offerings
during the Day of the Dead festivities. Although it is a temporary occasion, the town
fills with marigold flowers. The most impressive thing is to go to the shore of the
lake to see the offerings that are mounted on canoes and sail towards the island of
Janitzio.

One of the most representative buildings in Pátzcuaro is the House of the 11

GARDENS (Ex-Convent of the Dominican Nuns of Santa Catarina), a building from
1742 where a great variety of regional handicrafts are currently exhibited and sold.

In its surroundings you can visit the Magic Town of Santa Clara del Cobre and the
archaeological zone of Tzintzuntzan.
