The Early Years Foundation Stage usually abbreviated as

EYFS is designed to support all childcare providers,

It is a framework that forms a foundation for children’s

The framework is set to ensure that:

Review Question 7

How would you explain the EYFS in a job interview?

A Simple Model Response may look like this:

The EYFS is a framework that sets out the learning,

development and care requirements for all early years
educators. It is designed to help every child reach their full
potential and to give them the best possible start in life.

The EYFS is based on the belief that all children are unique
and that they learn best when they are given the opportunity
to explore, play and be active.

It also recognises that every child develops at their own pace

and that some children may need extra support to reach their
full potential. The EYFS is therefore flexible and can be
tailored to meet the individual needs of each child

In order to deliver the EYFS, early years educators must

follow a set of statutory requirements. These include
providing a safe and stimulating environment and offering a
balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all children.

It is important that you have a general knowledge of all the

statutory requirements especially the two key areas which
are the learning and development requirements, and the
safeguarding and welfare requirements so that when asked
in an interview, you can be able to explain them more
confidently.

See you in the next class if you will be there.
