HPC Engineer

Your role and your team:

As part of the IT Infrastructure team, you will take charge of a hybrid computing platform, where
parts are deployed on-premises and have a public cloud computing instances incorporated as
additional partitions. Some of the Cloud resources are static (as in, powered on and available 24/7)
and some are on-demand.

The environment is not fully production-proof and therefore still requires efforts for more
automation and resiliency on top of the day-to-day operations and support handed to the end-users.

Our IT team enables our business with flexible, scalable, fit-for-purpose and secure IT solutions,
covering all areas from Digital Workplace, Identity and Access Management, Connectivity, Cloud
platform engineering as well as highly secure, high performance and reliable datacenter services.

Your Day to Day:

 Central point of contact for all High-Performance-Computing (HPC) Infrastructure topics


 Work closely with suppliers and partners required to provide HPC services
 Operate existing and deploy new HPC compute solutions when needed
 Liaise with DevOps Engineering department to plan, design and/or implement Computing-
related workflows or supporting features
 Responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, availability, performance, security
and maintenance of the High-Performance Computing infrastructure and application
landscape

Your profile:

 Minimum 3 years of experience in system administration of Linux-based HPC clusters


 understanding and proven experience in deploying and managing HPC infrastructure within a
public cloud organization, e.g. AWS with ParallelCluster or MSFT Azure with Cyclecloud
 proven experience with Workload Managers, e.g. SLURM
 working knowledge of HPC technologies and architectures (CPU, memory, interconnect, MPI,
storage)
 Willing and able to take on new and unfamiliar IT technologies, constant learning
 Strong motivation to help build and shape the organisation, structures, and processes
 High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously
 Fluent English language skills are essential, any other languages would be beneficial
 Bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science, or similar working experience
 Experience or strong knowledge with ITIL framework
 Ability to work in a highly energetic, dynamic and fast-moving environment

Nice-to-Have:

 Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect


 Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate
 Experience with IaC concepts and tools, e.g. ansible or terraform is a big plus
