About Service Engineering team
Service engineering team is an engineering arm that creates significant impact on the success of
Manage cloud services, responsible for designing, developing and building software solutions to
effectively manage MCS customers. We also build new services to drive OCI consumption and
works on Enhancing customers’ experience. Service engineering constantly improves operations
by conducting system analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures for MCS
customers.

As a Site Reliability Developer, you will solve interesting technical challenges by defining,
designing, deploying, and troubleshooting key Oracle Cloud services, platforms, and

What You'll Achieve

 Champion service reliability and prevention – You will be part of the Service

Engineering team, whose mission is to improve the efficiency of hosting operations and cloud
based business services, in partnership with our service partners. You will also work on
developing new offerings for Managed cloud on OCI platform
 Service design and implementation – As the Oracle Cloud evolves; you will collaborate
with different cloud support organizations in defining and implementing improvements to
service architecture, both current and future. You will also be designing and developing new
tools and processes to make it easier and faster for the teams to support and deploy services in
the cloud.
 Automation – You will have a clear understanding of automation and orchestration
principles, and will be eager to automate, wherever and whenever the possibility arises, while
simultaneously eliminating technical debt. Automation must be part of your DNA.
 Represent Service Engineering team - Proactive, self-motivated, customer-focused,
organized, and a good communicator. Site Reliability Developer can be expected to represent
Cloud products and engineering in sensitive forums.

What you will need to be successful:

Development engineer with system administration knowledge and have the ability to
understand and explain the effect of product architecture decisions on the ability to run as
distributed systems. You are driven by professional curiosity and a desire to develop a deep
understanding of the services and the technologies they depend upon. You are passionate about
automation, and can demonstrate practical knowledge of various aspects of distributed service
design, including messaging protocols, caching strategies, persistence technologies, and
queuing.

 At least 2+ years of software development and experience in shipping at least one

release
 Over 2+ years experience running large scale customer facing web services with a solid
understanding of:
o REST API development
o Cloud PaaS/SaaS/IaaS environment
 Love of programming and rock-solid in one or more languages: Bash, Python, Ruby,
Powershell, Javascript. Python would be an added advantage
 Experience of driving change within an organisation, pushing through resistance and
success in adopting new ways of working
 Ability to follow standard engineering principles using Agile development methodology
and DevOps practices, including CI / CD and test automation.
 Must have demonstrated a curious, questioning mindset in previous work, along with a
creative and analytical approach to problem solving
 Most importantly, the aptitude to be a good team player and the willingness to learn
and implement new Cloud technologies as needed
 Good Oral and Written communication skills
 MCA, BE or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent
o Linux/Windows/Solaris administration
o Server hardware configuration
o Networking and TCP/IP
o Standard Internet services, such as DNS, HTTP, etc.
o Configuration management using Puppet, Chef, Ansible, SaltStack or similar

 Perform high-level design and develop by studying information needs, conferring with
users and studying the system flow, data usage, and work process
 Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to
prevent problem recurrence
 Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency
of Oracle products and services.
 Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale
distributed systems.
 Design and implement changes to existing or new software architecture.
 Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance
analysis, and system tuning
