II. Summary

Scientists examined 45 million scientific papers and 3.9 million patents taken from
across six decades because they have found that the pace of scientific disruption and
technological invention has slowed down considerably. With a tool known as the CD index
they analyzed this information which measures the effect that papers and patents have on
citations in science and technology that is able to give out a "disruptiveness score" that can
be used to tell how much and how the field is changing of science and technology; and it is
also stated here that to those that are truly disruptive and make old knowlege obsolete
while giving researchers new directions to examine. However, the authors found out that
new research is becoming less disruptive, and more in keeping with the exiting status quo.
That is happening across all disciplines, but specifically in the field of science and technology
based on some gathered information. There is still no certainty and no clear explanation as
to why this is happening and continues to happen currently, but the suggestion of writers
and investors is that they're lookimg within increasingly narrow fields for their new
discoveries. Also stated that "A healthy scientific ecosystem is one where there's a mix of
disruptive discoveries and consolidating improvement, but the nature of research is shifting,
said bye Russel Funk, he is known as a researcher at the University of the Minnesota and
lead author on the paper. (Griffin, 2023)
III. Reaction

I would say that when it comes to science and technology, this is an important issue
because it really helps a lot in every human life in different aspects such as brings processes
and tools together and information exchange to promote development for the betterment
of mankind. It helps people to solve their problems, reduce excess time, save lives, and help
to interact and exchange information to deal with everyday dynamic things. In addition, all it
helps the development of many countries. That's why it's really important that we realize
that as much as possible we can innovate or even surpass the inventions of the present time.
I was sad when I read this because of course, the Philippines is one of the country that is not
that developed and advanced in knowledge when it comes to technological aspects,
especially now that it is stated here that it is said to be slower than before. This news is a
great help in informing each individual about what is happening in our world in the field of
science and technology, if it is not resolved immediately, we can expect negative things to
happen. As a student and teacher trainee, I am witness to the great and rewarding
contributions of modern technologies and other inventions of scientists not only in the
Philippines, but also in the whole world. Like for instance, being a teacher the invention of
computers, laptops, projectors bluetooth speakers and so on is a big help for teachers, right?
layer upon layer of paper works and other roles of being a teacher somehow eased the
fatigue, wakefulness, and stress of school teachers thanks to the inventions and disruption
of scientists. The same is true in other fields and aspects of a person's life. So I can say that
this news is very helpful to wake up and make a solution immediately and see this problem
that can cause the collapse of many countries in the world. There is no need to open up
what can be done now. Shape the existence of many inventions and disruptions around the
world for the development of the majority and life in the future. (Griffin, 2023)
