1. You are provided with solution P, which contains a food substance and solution Q.
(a) Carryout the tests in Table 1 to identify the food substance in solution P.
Record your results in the same table. (09 marks)

(b) To 2cm3 of solution P in a clean test tube add 2cm3 of solution Q and
incubate the mixture in a water bath maintained at a temperature between
350C and 400C. Leave the mixture in the bath for 20 minutes. (meanwhile
continue with other work)
After 20 minutes remove the incubated mixture from the water bath and
divide it into two portions in separate test tubes labelled 1 and 2.
Carry out the tests in table 2 and record your results in the table.
