Derek Bok, president retired of Harvard University, noted in "The Crisis of Civic
Education" that "there is much more we could do to prepare our students for the challenges of
living in a democracy." Humans are demanding less of kids in analytical thoughts, American
politics, and news educational achievement, according to Bok. I concur with him. Rather than
extending our students' perspectives, school systems far too frequently aim to establish a closed
atmosphere, often ostensibly for protection and litigation. The problem of "helicopter" parenting
is quite known to us which means they are overprotective to their children. Doing this concept
falls well below our responsibilities to assist our children towards achieving properly
participating citizens of modern democracy. "Education is not just for citizenship," according to
Martha Nussbaum's article The Liberal Arts Are Not Elitist. It equips individuals for meaningful
work and meaningful lifestyles." Which, in my opinion, is the purpose of a liberal education: to
composition, history, and science, as well as to prepare students for international participation
and a satisfying career. To become an international citizen, one must be mindful of everything
that is occurring in the society surrounding them, engage in the community, comprehend the way
