Davicom Counts
Lightning Strikes
The DVLC-1 Lightning Counter is part of Davicom’s Lightning-
Awareness product line. It detects and counts the actual lightning
strikes sustained by a transmission tower or grounded structure.
It uses a magnetically-coupled current detector to sense and
count lightning-induced pulse currents flowing to ground.
Davicom says the DVLC will safely signal a Cortex unit whenever
the tower is hit by lightning. This functionality gives site operators
better situational awareness of the reasons why their site may have
stopped transmitting, or even better, that the site is still on-the-air

It retains the scratch-resistant work surfaces and avionics-
grade components of the earlier Quasar. “A built-in industrial-
grade 12.1-inch touchscreen user interface eliminates the need
for an external monitor. Users can still add a monitor using the
external video output available if required by the application.”
Expert Source Profile controls allow power users a granular
definition of custom logic associated with each source. The user
can program GPIO control, mix-minus routing, talkback and other
functions based upon console channel state.
Flexible Record Mode gives control of monitors, meters,
headphone feeds and program bus assignments. Show Profiles
allow up to 4,000 console “snapshots” of settings, layouts and
defaults. Automatic mix-minus and automixing are available on
all channels.
With this rollout, Telos Alliance also introduced an optional
remote control solution called Quasar Soft that lets broadcasters
control the surface from any HTML-5 browser. Included as part
of a Quasar Soft license is Quasar Cast, a remote monitoring
solution that lets users listen to what is happening in the studio
and on the air while they operate the console remotely using
Quasar Soft.

Lawo’s Diamond
Mixing Console
Sparkles
Lawo calls diamond “the crown jewel” of its line of mixing consoles
for radio and TV applications.
The company says it blends form, function and advanced
workflow capabilities into a beautiful new package.
“Completely modular, diamond can be sized from two fader
‘personal’ consoles up to 60-fader master-control and production
configurations. This allows a single studio to host several mixing
surfaces that act as a single console, giving producers, hosts and
talent direct access to a personalized selection of audio sources and
functions,” it states.
Bionics Introduces Nine module types allow diamond to be tailored to main studios,
production facilities, news booths or remote studio operation.

MaxxKonnect Beefs
Up Its Data Plans
MaxxKonnect Wireless provides prioritized LTE internet services
for broadcast, audio and video. It is now offering a new line of
“guaranteed-speed, high-consumption” plans.
“StreamMAXX plans use the AT&T network, and feature
guaranteed upload and download speeds, starting at 8 Mbps,
and significantly higher monthly data plans than the standard
MaxxKonnect Wireless offerings,” the company said. The plans
are suitable for video and audio streaming, STL transport, sports
broadcasting and other high-data transfer applications such as
automation backups and disaster recovery.
The MaxxKonnect Group also launched its own line of branded
LTE routers.
The MK-RUT series, powered by Teltonika, features the RUT240
and RUT950 models.

Both models feature CAT4 LTE modems, Wi-Fi, wired LAN and
WAN ports, remote I/O, a robust firewall and ruggedized case. The
RUT950 also has a built-in four-port network switch. More MK-RUT
models are planned. BSI Highlights

Broadcast Software International describes the OpX One
automation system as state-of-the-art radio automation technology
in one stand-alone computer. “It is easy to learn and powerful
enough to handle the largest audio libraries,” BSI states.
OpX One is composed of separate modules. Each can run on
the same computer for single-station installations, or they can
run on separate computers for redundancy and multi-station
cluster setups.
Features include Clock Builder to manage your satellite
programming, remote voice tracking capabilities with remote
control access, and a built-in data repeater. For file management,
you can preview audio from the file server, bulk change the dates
and apply dayparting options.
Secondary production workstations can be added for log import,
voice tracking and adding audio files to the OpX One system.
An OpX One production workstation is a workstation with the
Studio Client module installed along with the utility modules:
Clock Builder, Import-Merge and File Manager. The production
workstation will access the same audio and program logs as the
on-air workstation. OpX One production workstations can be
added to your network, so you can import logs and voice track
independently of the on-air workstation.
