INSTRUCTONS:
1. How do you assess oxygen therapy each day? (10 points)
Oxygen is necessary for human life. Some people with respiratory disorders
can’t get enough oxygen naturally that they need supplemental oxygen or oxygen
therapy. As a nurse, it is our responsibility to observed oxygen level of the patient
through verbalization of what they feel and also through the use of pulse oximeter. In
supplying oxygen, we need to check the prescription of the doctor and also monitor
the oxygen saturation of the patient.
2. General instruction in using oxygen therapy. (10 points)

Oxygen therapy is type of medication recommended by a doctor and only

given to people who have signs and symptoms of hypoxemia and hypoxia. The
doctors will prescribe the flow rate or how much oxygen is needed per minute in
order to achieve a normal oxygen level. In using oxygen, we must always follow
safety protocols and make sure that it is in good and safe position.

3. What are the dangers on uncontrolled high-flow oxygen? (10 points)

Patients who are exposed to high oxygen level for a prolonged period of time
is at risk of having lung damage. The extent of lung damage is dependent to the
duration of exposure. Due to intracellular free radical formed which can damage
alveolar-capillary membrane. It starts with increased permeability of the capillaries
with resultant edema, thickened membranes and results to pulmonary fibrosis.
