Research Statement

Introduction and research background:

Throughout human history ,great missions of exploration have been inspired by curiosity, the desires to
find out about unknown realms.

I would like my interest to lead in Astrophysics & Materials and devices research, as it would me abreast
of new discoveries in Semiconductor devices and Astronomy, and it would be great opportunity for me.

According to current paradigm, galaxies can grow in size through mergers with other galaxies. Many
galaxies are also known to contain a supermassive black hole at their center. The evolution of massive
binary can be broken down into three stages. My research is focused on the phases given below:

1) When they are closed enough together, the two SBHs form a bound pair. Their two body orbit
continues to shrink due to exchange of energy and angular momentum with nearby matter.

2) If the binary separation manages to shrink to a small fraction of a parsec, emission of gravitational
waves brings the two SBHs even close together, resulting ultimately in coalescence. Only interactions of
the massive binary with stars are considered; gaseous torque are ignored. To calculate the effect of
stellar interactions on a BSBH I used numerical scattering experiments.

In my future research, I would plan to expand on all projects mentioned above. I will develop a more
complete model for all these research projects.
