R2611: Christina Hartshorn

Head of Leadership and Entrepreneurship

Regional Development Agency for the South-East of England (SEEDA)
Interviewed 13 June 2006

What big companies say that they really like, that they really find valuable about
graduates coming out of UK universities, is their ability to be creative, their ability to
be flexible. And I think the fact that people don't always get jobs in their discipline is
quite helpful here. Because you're able to apply your subject matter, your discipline
and knowledge in a variety of different ways. And this gives a competitive edge to
businesses, and they find that very positive.
