TRANSCRIPTION 1: 50 points
1. Using a compositional app (MuseScore, Sibelius, etc.) or handwritten means
(paper and pencil), transcribe the pitches and rhythms of the pitched
portion of the audio recording (i.e., the top line – see below).
2. Use accidentals. No solfeggio syllables are required (though that would be
cool, of course!)
3. Bragging rights if you can identify the organization principle employed to
create much of the assignment.
4. Submit your assignment in PDF, PNG or JPEG format. Other formats will
not be accepted. Label your document with your name and the title of
the assignment.
5. Transcription software contradicts the purpose of this assignment.
Therefore, the use of transcription software to aid the discernment of
rhythms and pitches, and/or a tuner to discern pitches, is strictly forbidden.
The use of transcription software or a tuner would violate University of
Victoria academic integrity policy.
6. The audio sample is in 7/8 time (3+2+2). See below. The sample contains a
two measure introduction (woodblock). Do not transcribe the introduction.
7. Deductions:
 illegibility: -5 pts
 rhythm errors: -5 pts for each measure containing an error
 incorrect pitch(es): -2pts for each pitch
 missing label (no student name and/or missing assignment title): -5pts
