HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLANT ...

HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLANT DRAINING - HV BATTERY

WARNING:
Do not remove or loosen the coolant pressure cap, cylinder block drain plugs, or the
draincock when the system is hot and under pressure because serious burns from the
coolant can occur.

NOTE:
DO NOT WASTE reusable coolant. If the solution is clean, drain the coolant into a clean
container for reuse.

1. Remove pressure from the high voltage battery cooling system

2. Raise and support the vehicle (Refer to 04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting/Standard Procedure)

3. Place a suitable clean drain pan beneath the HV battery coolant

hose fittings (1, 2).

4. Disconnect both quick disconnect fittings. Allow the coolant to

drain into the pan. Allow the coolant to drain until it stops from
both the battery and vehicle side of the battery cooling circuit.

NOTE:
Always ensure that the proper coolant is utilized,
failure to do so may cause Loss of Isolation in the
High Voltage System.

5. Verify that the pressure regulator on the battery pressure test kit
(1) is in the full closed position, and that the ball valve (2) is in
the closed position.

6. Attach a shop air hose to the pressure tester regulator and valve
assembly (3), and verify that no shop air is flowing through the
tool.

7. Connect Pressure Tester Regulator and Valve Assembly hose (3)

to the High Voltage Battery Inlet port.

8. Slowly open the ball valve (2), and allow the high-voltage battery
coolant to flow out of the drain hose until coolant is no longer
observed flowing out of the hose.

NOTE:
Maximum setting on the pressure tester regulator
is approximately 25 psig.

9. Close the ball valve (2).

10. Remove Pressure Tester Regulator and Valve Assembly hose from
inlet port of high-voltage battery.

11. Attach both quick connects (1, 2) to the high-voltage battery

12. Lower the vehicle.

13. Fill the battery coolant system (Refer to 12 - Electric Powertrain

System/High-Voltage Battery Cooling and Heating
System/Standard Procedure) .

14. Check for leaks.
