choices, about normative ways of using available
resources, with the aim of achieving articular
goals at some time in future.

Urban plans look at current conditions in the
community to figure out what’s working well and
what may need to be improved.
Urban and regional planning to extend the geographical
spread of the city with a view of reducing population densities
in the city and also balancing development between the urban
and rural areas.
The World Bank (2018) expects the country’s
urbanization rate to reach 61.8% by 2050.

opportunities are limited.

community in the present and plans for how the
community can maintain and improve itself in the
future.

It addresses the long-term future of the community,


looks at all the different components of the community
and is officially adopted by the community’s local
government.

Document serves as a road map as we all journey towards


the realization of our vision and the accomplishment of
our mission.
Process of creating an urban plan
goes through several steps:
1. Assess the community’s current conditions.
2. Create goals for the future.
3. Decide on what planning strategies and actions
will be taken.
4. Determine how to implement, monitor, and
update the plan.

1.Land use – management or organization of land
2.Environmental issues – preservation of city’s natural
element
3.Housing – serves the community.
4.Transportation – keeps city connected and progressing
5.Utilities and infrastructure – keeps the city going
6.Urban design – makes the city look good and work well.
