most popular story of this tower is about the Seljuk Sultan and his daughter. Sultan’s daughter
was a beautiful girl and he loved her so much. One day, the Sultan had a nightmare. In his
nightmare, a snake bit his daughter and she died. After this nightmare, the Sultan sent his
daughter to a tower because he wanted to keep her safe. She lived there all alone for many
years. During these years, she became ill in the tower, but she overcame her illness and
became healthy again. The people in the city sent a lot of gifts to the tower to celebrate her
good health. In one of the gifts, there was a basket of grapes. But there was a snake inside the
basket, under the grapes . At that That night, the snake bit the Sultan’s daughter while she was
sleeping. Like in the Sultan’s nightmare, his daughter died because of a snake bite.
Once upon a time, a girl named ‘Sarıkız’ lived in Güre village. This girl was very beautiful
and all the young men in that village wanted to marry her. However, her father thought that
these young men could not be her husband. After this, the young men became angry and told
a lie about Sarıkız: she did something sinful and she had to be punished. Her father had to kill
her or send her away from the village as a punishment. He didn’t want to kill her, so he
decided to take her to the peak of a mountain. He took her to Kazdağları Mountains and
hoped that she could survive there. The girl was successful in living there alone and she even
helped the farmers there. In the end, her father learned that she became a goose farmer (kaz
means goose in Turkish). Today, Sarıkız’s tomb is in the peak of that mountain, which that
peak is named after her.
