Answer:
A study conducted by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves as seen in the
gure “Emotional Intelligence Scores and Job Title,” shows the average EQ
(Emotional Intelligence) scores of CEOs, managers, and other employees
across many di erent industries. Individual contributors scored 74%, while
supervisors scored 77% and managers 77.5%. As employees advanced in
their jobs their EQ increased. However, the gure demonstrates a decline in
EQ as the job title advances beyond manager. While directors scored 74.5%,
senior executives scored 71% and CEOs 70.5%, the lowest among all job
titles. CEOs have a 6 point lower score than managers. This data reveals that
companies are not interested in skills which pertain to EQ such as
relationship-management and social awareness for their high-ranking
executives. Furthermore, companies may not be aware of a need for a higher
EQ in leaders, managers, and decision-makers in businesses.
