1. PRODUCT INFO
The board M_CAN-RS485 is an adapter between CAN interface and RS485. It has two different
features:

1. It is useful as an interface that has in input the MOVILIFT board BR100 and in output the
DMG displays with RS485 interface. The board converts the MOVILIFT CAN BUS to
RS485 DMG.
2. It is useful as an interface that has in input the DMG board DEUM and in output the
MOVILIFT displays with CAN BUS interface. The board converts the RS485 DMG to
MOVILIFT CAN BUS.

2. TECHNICAL DETAILS
POWER SUPPLY 12V ± 10%
INTERFACES • RS485 to connect on DEUM board or DMG displays.
• CAN BUS to connect on MOVILIFT board or MOVILIFT displays.
PROGRAMMATION The programmation is made by buttons PRG and ADV on board.

3. CONNETTORS AND JUMPER

The jumper J4 must be connected only when the board M_CAN-RS485 is placed at the beginning
or at the end in a CAN BUS connection, it add the terminal CAN BUS resistor of 120 ohm.

Jumpers J5 e J6 are optional, they can be connected when M_CAN-RS485 board is at the
beginning or at the end of the RS485 bus, to add the polarization resistors.

Be careful, VCC+12 and GND are passers connector.

4. FUNCTIONALITY n. 1: Conversion from CAN MoviLift to RS485 DMG display
This function allows to control a DMG display with RS485 interface when they need to be
connected to MOVILIFT BR100 by CAN BUS communication. In fact, you can’t use DEUM board
because it hasn’t CAN interface.

Note well: to active the display pilotage by CAN bus is necessary to set in BR100 the parameter
“Actiovation Dis C” to 1.

CAN bus connector must be connected to CAN bus port on BR100. RS485 connector must be
connected to DMG display.

Power supply board is given by BR100 by CAN bus connector. Display power supply is given by
board but only for few pieces, otherwise you need to use another power supply.

Factory data provides that at every lift floor you see the stop number, between -9 and 32.

It’s possible to customize the value for every floor, to make every alphanumeric combination. For
example, instead of floor stop “1” you can visualize “PA”. (Parameter P6).

5. FUNCTIONALITY n. 2: Conversion from RS485 DMG to CAN MoviLift display

This function allows to control a MOVILIFT display with CAN BUS interface when they need to be
connected to DMG DEUM with RS485 communication.

CAN BUS connector must be connected to MOVILIFT display and RS485 connector must be
connected on DMG DEUM.

6. FUNCTIONALITY n.3: Autodetect

To simplify the board installation is available the parameter to active the “Autodetect”.

The board waits for any signal from RS485 and CAN port. If it get the signal from CAN port, it
active automatically the functionality n.1. If it get the signal from RS485 port, it active automatically
the functionality n.2. LED RDY will show by blinking the functionality set, 1 or 2 blink.

If there aren’t any signals for more than 10 seconds or there are both signals, the board set the
functionality on Autodetect; LED RDY will show by blinking the functionality set with 3 blink.

7. PARAMETERS
The board M_CAN-RS485 allows to edit some parameters. There isn’t a display on board so you
need to connect a DMG display where you can visualize the messages.

The board has two buttons on board: PRG to enter in the menu and confirm the values, ADV to
scroll the parameters.

To exit without saving, wait 10 seconds.

For example, pressing ADV consecutively you can see the parameters P1, P2, etc., pressing PRG
on P1 you enter in the submenu, with ADV you scroll the submenu values and pressing PRG for 5
seconds to select and memorize the value. The saving is confirmed by “SA” on the display.

Pressing buttons repeatedly, the values will change quickly.

Submenu Meaning Min Max Values Default

8. FACTORY DATA RESET

Press both PRG and ADV for 5 seconds to make the factory data reset. On DMG display will
appear “RE” for 2 seconds to confirm the reset.

PARAMETER P1: Operative mode
If P1 is 0 then is activate the DEMO mode that shows all display characters and up/down arrows
are always on.

If P1 is 1 then is activated the functionality n.1 described previously.

If P1 is 2 then is activated the functionality n.2 described previously.

If P1 is 3 the board waits any signals from inputs. If it receives datas from CAN bus port, it actives
the functionality n.1, while if it receives datas from RS485 port, it actives the functionality n.2.

PARAMETER P4: Insert floor

Note: The parameter P4 is only for functionality n.1 (From CAN to RS485)

This programmation function allows to insert a floor in the natural floor progressive numeration.
For example, if there is a mezzanine floor between ground floor and first floor.

New floor is added before stop number that blinks and is called “HH”. After you can modify
characters in P6 parameter.

• Press PRG button to enter in programmation menu and press 3 times ADV, on display will
appear the written ”P4”;
• Press PRG. The two digit will blink.
• Press ADV until you visualize the floor number following what you want to add. You can
select it from -9 to 32.
• Press PRG for a second.
Programmation is completed and the data is saved.

PARAMETER P5: Delete floor

Note: The parameter P5 is only for functionality n.1 (From CAN to RS485)

This function (also known as floor jump) allows to delete a floor from the natural floor progressive
numeration.

• Press PRG button to enter in programmation menu and press 4 times ADV, on display will
appear the written ”P5”;
• Press PRG.
• Press ADV until you visualize the floor number you want to delete.
• Press PRG for a second.
Programmation is completed and the data is saved.

PARAMETER P6: Floor modification

Note: The parameter P6 is only for functionality n.1 (From CAN to RS485)

• Press PRG button to enter in programmation menu and press 5 times ADV, on display will
appear the written ”P6”;
• Press PRG.
• Press ADV until you visualize the floor number you want to modify.
• Press PRG.
• Press ADV until you visualize the digit you want.
• Press PRG to save the first digit.
• Repeat for the other one.
• Press PRG for 3 seconds to save.

9. DIAGNOSTICS
Green LED RDY blinks quickly every second to indicate that the board is ON and programmed.

Green LED RDY blinks slowly every second to indicate that the board is in DEMO mode.

If the board doesn’t receive any signal from BR100 for more than 3 seconds, the display will show
‘- -‘ and the yellow LED PRG make 1 blink every second.

If the board doesn’t receive any signal from DEUM for more than 3 seconds, the display will show
‘- -‘ and the yellow LED PRG make 3 blink every second.

LED RDY
OFF LED PRG shows an error code
1 Blink in a second The board is ready and in functionality n.1
2 Blinks in a second The board is ready and in functionality n.2
3 Blinks in a second The board is ready and is waiting a signal.

LED PRG
