US TAX TERMS AND VISA TYPES

There are 3 US Tax Terms and they are 1099, W2, C2C

1099 – Temporary Employment and only US citizens and Green Card holders are
allowed to work as 1099 employees

W2 - Here taxes will be paid by the employer to IRS.


GC, Citizens and H1B come under this type of employment.

C2C- Corporation to corporation. Here employee will be on the payrolls of one


company but working for other corporation. It is only for contract jobs.

VISA TYPES
L1 - Labor Visa - The L1 Visa is a non-immigrant, temporary visa, enabling the
workers to work in US for up to 7 years.

L2 - Dependent visa - for the family

B1 - Business Visa - It is a non-immigrant visa to the US. It is for those who would
like to travel to US for a short duration for business related reason.

F-1 - Student Visa - It is for people who come to US from around the world to
study and improve their skills.

H-1B Visa - The H-1B Visa is used by foreign professionals who are sponsored by a
U.S. employer to work in a specialty occupation in the U.S. An H-1B visa is
generally valid for three years and can be extended for an additional three-year
period.
