Recruitment Process

Recruitment Process starts when a client has a job


position and needs to fill that position.

Requirements
Source of requirement: We get requirements from
Business Development teams, Direct Sales teams,
Preferred Vendors.

Types of Requirement
Contract: Contract positions come for a fixed timeframe
or Contract plus extension. Anyone can work on Contract
positions irrespective of their work authorization.
Recruitment Process

Contract to Hire:
CTH Position will be initially for a fixed timeframe and
once that time frame is over the client offers the
Consultant a permanent position. Only US Citizens, Green
Card Holders and GC-EAD holders are eligible for
Fulltime positions. H1B’s are only eligible if the client is
ready to provide sponsorship.

Fulltime/Permanent:
Fulltime positions are direct hire positions. Only US
Citizens, Green Card Holders and GC-EAD holders are
eligible for Fulltime positions. H1B’s are only eligible if
the client is ready to provide sponsorship.
Employment Categories

 Client – A person or organization using the services of


another professional person or company
 Vendor – A person or company offering services
 Candidate - A person or company offering services
 Consultant/Contractor – A person who is on NLB’s
payroll working for NLB’s client
 Salary – Form of periodic payment from an employer to
an employee, which may be specified in an employment
contract
Employment Categories

 Payroll Tax – Taxes imposed on employers or


employees, and are usually calculated as a percentages
of the salaries that employers pay their staff. Payroll
taxes generally fall into two categories; deductions
from an employee’s wages, and taxes paid by the
employer based on the employee’s wages
 Benefits – Perquisites given to a consultant over and
above the regular pay

W2
 Consultant is on the direct payroll of the Employer
 Employer is responsible to take care of: Salary/Hourly
rate, Employer/Employee Taxes, Benefits
 20% overhead cost on W2 (Hourly) Employees
 Categories of W2:
W2 Hourly W2 Salaried

Paid on an hourly basis Paid on Monthly/Annual basis

Eligible for overtime Not eligible for overtime

Benefits are paid Benefits are paid and also contributed by


the employer
Tax Terms in US Recruitment

Corp to Corp
Also called as Corp to Corp, Sub-Contracting, Corporation
to Corporation, C2C and CTC.
 NLB Services enters into a Contractual agreement with
a 3rd party company to perform the job. NLB Services
shares the profile of the candidate who is on the
payroll of the 3rd party company. Once the candidate
gets hired for the job he still remains on the payroll of
the 3rd party company and works for the client
through NLB Services.
 Self Inc.- Consultant owns a company which is
registered with the US Government and the consultant
works as an “Independent Contractor” through his own
company.
Tax Terms in US Recruitment

Incorporation/1099
 Generally operates the company as a Sole Proprietor or
single member limited liability company. In this, NLB
Services enters into an agreement with the consultant
who is on the payroll of his own company which is
registered with the US government
 Consultant receives salary from NLB Services for the
work but he himself is responsible to take care of his
payroll tax and benefits. If he doesn’t pay these
taxes, NLB Services is held responsible.
Visas

What Is Visa?

Visa is an entry clearance certificate that is placed in a


travel or passport document, which gives you permission
to enter into the applied country.

Types of Visas:

Visa’s are mainly classified into two major categories


➢ Immigrant Visa
➢ Non immigrant Visa
Visas

Immigrant Visa?

Immigrant Visas are for people who intend to live


permanently in the US.

Types of Immigrant Visas:

GC(Green Card): An official document issued by the US


Government to alliance allowing them to work
permanently in US.

Non Immigrant Visa?

Non immigrant Visa's are for those people with permanent residence
outside the US but wish to be in the US for a temporary basis- for
tourism, medical treatment, business, temporary work or study.

Types of Non- Immigrant Visa

H1B- Work permit: This is a work permit under the US immigration in


which aliens can enter US for three years if they work in a specialized
field and their employers cannot fill the position locally. The three
years can also be extended to six years. Programmers and other
technicians in the computer field enter the US under this status.
Visas

Non Immigrant Visa?

H4- Spouse of H1b visa holder (not a work visa)

B1/B2- Business/Tourist Visa- Business travelers can enter the US


using this visa.

L1- Intra Company Transfer/ Dependent Visa- L1 is a Non-Immigrant


visa which allows companies operating both in the US and abroad to
transfer certain class of employees from its Foreign Operations to the
US Operations for seven years. (E.g. To IBM USA from IBM India)

L2 – Spouse of L1 visa holder (not a work visa, if they want to work


they can apply for a EAD Card and get a “L2 EAD”)

 US Citizen

 EADs (Employer Authorization Documents)
 TN – Canadian or Mexican Citizens
Below are some common categories of EADs
 OPT-EAD (Optional Practical Training) Category – C03
 GC-EAD C09
 H4-EAD C26
 L2-EAD A18
Visas

US Citizenship:

A US Citizen is fully authorized to work for any of the organizations


based out of the US. Does not require to show any work
authorization. A person can get US Citizenship either by being born
there or by the Naturalization process.

Green Card Holders:


Also known as Permanent Residence of the US is the immigration
status of a person authorized to live and work in the US permanently.
Visas

H1B:
It is a kind of work visa, which allows the US Employer to employ
foreign workers in special occupation. The maximum extension of this
Visa is 6 years. A Person cannot directly file for H1B visa, it can be
only filed through an employer of the consultant.

EADs:
It stands for Employer Authorization Documents, commonly known as
“Work Permit” is a document issued by the United States Citizenship
and Immigration Services (USCIS) that provides temporary employment
authorization to non-citizens in the US. Some of the categories are
mentioned above.

(If No, ask for reference).

 The duration of the contract is “Duration of the

this position the client requires candidates to work on
W2 hourly, with benefits. Would you be fine with
that?

3. Work Status

 “Name of the candidate” are you currently employed?


 If the answer is in affirmation
 Is this a contract or a permanent position?
 Contract position: Can you please confirm when your
contract is going to get over? If the response is a long
time from the current date; Would it be ok if I call
you after…….weeks/months if I get any good
opportunity regarding the same or similar position? In
the meantime, it would be nice if you could give me
some references or pass the word on.

 Is there a possibility of your contract getting


extended?
 Permanent Position: Since you are working on a
permanent position, can you please confirm why you are
looking for a change?
 If the candidate says that he’s no longer employed…
 Can you please confirm when did your last assignment
end?

position offered… In the meantime, it would be nice if
you could give me some references or pass the word

Negotiate with the candidate to get the confirmation on
the rate.

Grilling the candidate on offers and interviews in pipeline


Do you have any pending offers or have you been by any
other company?
Availability for client interview

what time-slots will suit you?

9. Follow up on Documents and Dual Submission

Dual Submission
I would also like to advise you not to submit your resume
through any other Staffing Agency for the same opening and

To leave a voice message, here’s a script you might want to use.

Hi “Name of the candidate”, this is “Your Name” calling from NLB


services. I called you regarding an opportunity that could be a good fit
for you “Job Title” position in “Location” and I wanted to check if you
would be interested. If you are available please give me a call on “Your
Number”, I repeat “Your Number” to discuss the job further. I am also
sending you the JD on “Candidate’s email address”, you can also reply on
the same. Looking forward to talk to you soon.
