Companion Cube throw pillows
Portal holds a special place in the heart of crafter Melissa Franks, as it was
the first video game she ever played, and remains one of her favourites. She
says these pillows were the most difficult thing she has ever made, but also
turned out the best. She hopes the pillows will be enjoyed by someone who
loves the game as much as she does. They are soft, huggable, and certainly
not a lie.
The pillows are made from 100% sweatshirt fleece for a cozy, low
maintenance feel. The filling is polyester fiber, and is stitched with cotton

This delightful (ok, somewhat terrifying) skull mask from Ocarina of Time fits
comfortably on the face and comes with ties for easy wearing. It makes a
wonderful decoration or costume piece, and as you can see in the photos,
can render the wearer quite fierce and fright-inducing. Great for Halloween or
those everyday occasions when you want to terrify a neighbour, roommate or

Cthulhu plushie with Desert Bus shirt
Crafter Melissa says when she was first introduced to Desert Bus for Hope,
her friend showed her a little Cthulhu plushie doll that was part of the Craft-a-
long. That was the moment Melissa knew she had to get involved in this
charity drive. This little fellow was an excuse for her to help the children and
make something adorable... and, y'know, honor the elder gods.
Cthulhu is made from a blend of merino wool, microfibre, and and cashmere.
The eyes are made from plastic buttons and cotton thread was used for the

Octopuses are clever, resourceful, graceful, playful and, in this particular

case, shiny. Crafter Ryan Revilock says this critter was a fun sculptural
experiment. The glass, which comes in rods, is heated using a torch, then
wrangled into shape. Once the figure was formed, itrested at 1050 degrees
fahrenheit to let the glass relax, or anneal. The result: perfectly cooked
octopus. However, we recommend not trying to eat this one. The octopus is
approximately 4 across and 4 inches tall.

This scarf design is based on the character from Portal 2, using the color
scheme and basic patterns to create a subtle yet recognizable design.
Crafter Shandi Wagner says any of her friends will tell you that she is known
for liking Portal just a little too much, to the point where her name is - to her

Once upon a time, The Tree Topper, crafter of many things science-y, came
across a photo of Pani Jurek’s Maria S.C. chandelier with the tubes filled with

thought it would be great if the tubes themselves were the source of light, and

The Elements of Harmony - My Little Pony signet ring set
When sending letters to Princess Celestia, why not use a signet ring to finish
it with a wax seal? Well, for ponies the answer is: because I don't have
fingers and so don't use rings, duh. But you do have fingers! This is a set of
six rings featuring signets of each of the Mane Six, created with 3D printing in

It's a Met hat! Styled to make you look like one of those pesky, adorably nigh-
invulnerable critters in many of the Mega Man games, if only you were just
one foot tall and made of eyeballs.

The Sweetest Pig
At the center of this auction lot is a soft plush pig, green for good luck and as
cuddly as they come, made by crafter Vaso Assimakopoulos. But this pig

Crafter Eri of Geekbadge has donated a plethora of great geeky pocket

mirrors, great for making sure your cosplay makeup hasn't smeared, peering
around corners in a ninja-like fashion or reflecting the rays of the sun to blind
your enemies. The mirror backings are made from vintage comic books
(don't worry, they're ones that were in no condition to be collectors' items) or
from reprinted vintage movie posters. We'll be giving these wonderful mirrors

Mew - Pokemon Cross Stitch
This detailed cross stitch depicts the fabled Pokemon from the original
Red/Blue series known as Mew. The piece took about 12 hours to complete.

Radoon started cross stitching when he was about 10, learning from his
Ukrainian grandmother. He took a break from this craft while at university, but
started again after finishing his degree because of webcomic artist Danielle

Being a Pokemon trainer is hard work - trying to be a Pokemon Master is

even harder! Relax in between gym battles with a hot (or cold) beverage

Creepy Dolls Left Out To Dry ornament
This wonderful ornament commemorates the crazy weirdness that is Desert

Bus, with a trio of adorable (yet terrifying) Creepy Dolls dangling in a row from
the Desert Bus logo. You could use it to adorn a Christmas tree (imagine the
fun you'll have explaining that ornament to friends and family!), a rearview
mirror, a window or any place that needs a little extra something. The logo
and figures are all individually drawn, then traced onto plastic, coloured, cut

As with the original 1066+ page trilogy, insanity was the inspiration for these
books. Creator Elomin Sha figured that no child with caring, responsible
parents with would ever get to experience the questionable joys and certain
pains of the original trilogy, so he decided to create a version that children of
all ages could enjoy. After extensive testing and research, Elomin discovered

As with the original 1066+ page trilogy, insanity was the inspiration for these
books. Dub Step was very popular last year, so trilogy creator Elomin Sha

More Than Meets the Eye - Transformers Illusion Knit scarf
Dawn, a longtime Craft-Along participant, has had the idea for this scarf since
before Desert Bus 5, but says that designing the pattern always seemed a bit
daunting. This year she got the pattern sorted out and the scarf went from
idea to reality. She wanted to capture the classic Transformer logo colors
without straying into pastel territory (she finds the Decepticon logo is
rather...pastel purple to her eyes), so finding the heathered purple-grey was a

Brain slugs are the perfect companion/headwear for any occasion, whether
it's a royal wedding or a night out with the gang. They're sure to help you
relax, too, as they save you from having to do any heavy thinking, or any

Dawn Friesen crocheted and wore her first brain slug for the 2012 Calgary

Stuffed Minecraft Creeper
Who's the cutest little Creeper? This guy! A wool patchwork representation of
these sinister sneaks from Minecraft, this particular Creeper is actually rather
cuddly. He's guaranteed not to blow up your home, but he's probably thinking
about it. As a knitter and a Minecraft junkie, Kate wanted to bring to life the
mob that she's spent the most time running away from in a blind panic.
Kate has been knitting for fifteen years and playing video games for a little
longer. The two have gone together for her ever since she started playing
RPGs and learned to keep a project nearby so she could knit during

build a Useless Box. What is a Useless Box? Why, it's a box that is entirely

have on your desk. Colourful, full of attitude, and never needs watering.
This delightful desk companion is made mainly from acrylic felt, with teeth of
100% wool felt. The pipe it stems from (hahaha, yeah we'll just show
ourselves out now) is filled partially with polypropylene stuffing beads (little
plastic pellets, essentially) to keep the plant from being entirely top-heavy.

These glass sushi plates feature the adorable square-face piggies of

Minecraft - just watch out for your food, as they're probably all too happy to
help you eat it! This piece is made with hand cut squares of Bullseye glass.
Each piece was carefully placed to match the Zombie design in Minecraft. It
was fired 2 times, the first time to a temperature of 1450° F to fuse the glass
pieces together and the second firing (slumping) to soften the glass into the
mold. Each plate measures 5 inches x 8.5 inches.
