SBD
SERENYS analog mammography unit is upgradeable with stereotactic biopsy device SBD.
SERENYS DR and SERENYS DR DBT digital mammography systems are upgradeable with
SBD DMD, a biopsy device that allows to execute stereotactic or tomoguided procedures.

SBD and SBD DMD enable to calculate the exact three-dimensional coordinates X, Y, Z of a
breast’s lesion, identifying its spatial position and allowing the operator to reach it by means
of the right needle or gun. This technique is particularly effective for the diagnosis of inner
lesions, in terms of prevention, and also when it is necessary to carry out tests for
histological and/or cytological exams.

With SBD and SBD DMD is available a wide range of supports and adaptors that allows to
use it with the most common needles and biopsy guns and VAB.

SBD is equipped with a Processing Unit (PU), that is a control console for data acquisition,
and with a Needle Position Unit (NPU), that is the needle support, and positioning unit.

SBD DMD software is integrated in the Acquisition Workstation of digital mammography

system. The biopsy procedure is automatically selected when a study is open with SBD DMD
installed.
