Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Laser Cutter

1. Applicant is compulsory to show ID card.


2. Usage is only allowed for project or teaching purpose (approved by academic supervisor / lecturer).
3. Applicant must submit their design to lab staff in-charge.
a. Vector format: .dxf, .ai, .plt, .dst, .ds
b. Bitmap format: .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png, .mng
4. Instrument is operated by lab staff in-charge.
5. First-come-first-serve basis. However, priority is given to free user.
6. Operation of Laser Cutter*:
a. Free user – Complete within 1 to 2 working days
b. Paid user – Complete within 3 to 5 working days
7. For paid user: upon submission of design, applicant shall made payment at Division of Finance (G
Floor), provide receipt to lab staff in-charge as proof before collecting the end product.

*May vary depends on instrument condition, schedule, lab activity, class, event, etc.

Description : RayLaser RL4060HSDK-60W
Maximum cutting size : 400mm x 600mm
Supported cutting material : Low density fiberboard (max. 3mm thickness), cardboard (max. 3mm
thickness)

Usage and Charge of Laser Cutter


1. Limited to five (5) free cuts per student ID.
2. Materials provided by student.

Example of usage (per cut) Total Payable (RM)


First 5 cuts Free
Every subsequent cut RM2/cut
