Facilitating professional training and learning opportunities is one of the roles of teacher leaders. If
learning is shared from one teacher to another, teachers can directly focus on the improvement of
student/pupil learning. Based on my own point of view, group of teachers have different types of learning
needs which are required to be addressed in aiming the effective learning. Professional development of
teachers could be enhanced through conducting an in-service training.
In-service training (INSET) is a school-based seminar workshop regarding the need of all teachers
in improving their teaching methods, classroom management, professional growth and development and
knowledge and skills enhancement towards the upliftment of learners-centered learning.
On the first day, Mrs. Margarita T. Molina, the facilitator discussed about the introduction to school-
based LMS. She started her topic by discussing what is Learning Management System. According to her, it
is a learning management system (LMS), a software application or web-based technology teachers used to
plan, implement and assess a specific learning process to give learning materials. Teachers,
students/learners and administrators are all involved using search engine like google, chrome, mozilla, etc.
On the second day, teachers had workshop on developing of modules and evaluation of teacher-
made modules using the three areas and Grammarly checklist for language.
It was almost 5:00 in the afternoon and the In-service Training was set to close, therefore Mrs.
Margarita T. Molina told the participants that certificates will be given soon. Lastly, the facilitator ended the
session having a strong hope that topics discussed during the INSET have great impact on teachers’
personal and professional development which could bring quality education to learners.
