WRITING AND GRAPHING INEQUALITIES

Practise writing algebraic statements with inequalities and graphing inequalities on the number line.

TASK 1 Complete the algebraic statement

Complete each algebraic statement by drawing in the inequality sign. Remember that the ‘arms’ of the
inequality sign open towards the larger amount.

1 A number is less than 6: x 6

2 The sum of a number and 11 is greater than or equal to 20: x + 11 20

4 Subtract 10 from a number and the answer is less than or equal to 2: x – 10 2

5 The product of a number and 7 is greater than 77: 7x 77
