5.

Communication with PC
5.1 General
NMEA0183 data, waypoint and route data can be transferred from GP-150 to PC.

Note: Mark and track can not be transferred.



(1) From GP-150 to PC: Waypoint data, route data
ta and end code are output from GP-150 to
the PC in this order.
(2) From PC to GP-150: Software of GP-150 is installed to the PC.


(3) From PC to GP-150: Waypoint and route data


ta sawed on the PC can be sent back to
GP-150. Waypoint numbers are assigned to these
ese waypoints. The waypoint identifier in
WPL sentence is stored as a comment.


The data on GP-150 is overwritten the received data from the PC.

Note:
- Turn OFF the power supply when connecting the PC with GP-150.
- If the power is turned ON, the data is not identified.
- When GP-150 program is updated, the data is initialized. So, write the setting data by hand.

5.2.2 Setting on PC

Configuring Windows HyperTerminal
1. Launch Hyper Terminal by selecting Start -> Programs -> Accessories ->

Communication -> HyperTerminal nal from the start menu.
You should see the following dialogue.

2. Enter a name of the new configuration that will attach to the target device e.g. gps.
And click [OK].

3. The following dialogue box appears and select the serial port on the PC to which device
will be attached (e.g. COM1). And click [OK].


 

4. The following dialogue box appears and change Port Settings.

* A maximum of 10 waypoints are entered in a route. Waypoints used to create a route are

5.4 Updating the Program


Note: Turn off the power of GP-150. And exit the HyperTerminal Configuration.

1. Open the appropriate program folder to be update.

2. Double-click the Batch file icon of the Program.


 


3. UPe - Notepad window appears.



4. “TARGET POWER ON” message is indicated, and turn on the power of GP-150. After
ten or twenty minutes, “NOW ERASING” message is indicated.
Check “Port no.”.

5. “***% completed” message appears. When “100% competed” message appears, GP-150
is reset automatically and goes into normal function (approximately 10 minutes later).

6. When the update is completed, “Continue loading?


ading? (Y/N)” message appears. Press [N]
key on keyboard of PC (when other GP-150
-150 is updated, press [Y] key.).


7. Press [MENU ESC] -> [ZOOM OUT 9] -> [ZOOM OUT 9] to carry out all clear.

8. Press [MENU ESC] -> [PLOT ON/OFF 8] to check the program version number.


5.5 Load of Waypoint and Route Data


The data stored in the PC is transferred to GP-150.
Note:


(1) Carry out the load after updating the program.
(2) Stored data and waypoint in GP-150 are deleted when loading.

1. Launch Hyper Terminal by selecting Start -> Programs -> Accessories ->
Communication -> HyperTerminal

(3) “Loading erases current data and stops Route navigation. Are you sure to load?”
message appears and press [NU/CU ENT].
(4) “Now loading Waypoint/Route data!” message appears.
(5) “Loading ended successfully” message appears and press any key.
