RWIP-414__] Tssue-07- Rev. No.0 2. 24 0 METHOD STATEMENT FOR H BEAM WALL WITH TIE BACK ANCHORS. GENERAL The site is located at Damac Hills, Dubai. The existing ground level is +30.625 DMD. The excavation required for the construction of the pilecapfooting has necessitated anchored channel beam wall/ H beam wall with concrete panel wall as shoring system along the Road side (Dewa corridor). The maximum excavation is -24.5 DMD from +30.625 m DMD. 2.2 RESTRAINED H BEAM WALL Restrained H beam wall shoring system is proposed for Section 1, In order to accommodate the tie back anchors, double H beams are proposed at 3.0 m cle for. Single H beams shall be placed in the centre position between the double H beams. To reduce the deflection of H beam wall to minimum it shall be restrained by a layer of tie back anchor at level defined by static calculations. A waling beam shall be welded fo the beam connecting all beams, at anchor location, The anchor will be stressed to the waling connecting all beams. 2.3 METHOD OF INSTALLATION In order to avoid un-allowed influence on adjacent buildings or roads, the Double channel beam will be located into predriled boreholes. For this purpose, a temporary casing of min, 3.0 m length wil be rotary into the soil. The borehole will be drilled by our rotary driling rig BG series using water to stabilize the borehole. The length of the embedment of the H beam depends on the particular statical requirements and will be defined in the structural analysis. The H beam shall be lited by crane and will be placed at the centre of the drilled hole vertically. The borehole will be filled with gravel up to the proposed excavation level. Above the proposed excavation level, the temporary casing wil be filed with granular soil or excavation materials (f suitable) and the temporary casing will be withdrawn by our driling rig, p44 Wathod Statement & Design of Temp, Retaining Wall Date04-07-2022 Wiss, No. MST & DESIGNIEDiTemp. RWIP-414 Issue -O1- Rev. No.0 24 25 261 25.2 Rev. 0 PREPARATION OF DOUBLE CHANNEL BEAM Double Channel beam wil be fabricated by welding two Channel beam of suitable size side by side, The grade of steel shall confirm to B.S. 4, part 1, 1993 of grade 43A (S275). The space between the H beams will be maintained minimum 12 cm in order to accommodate the anchor. The plate that connecting the two beams shall extend beyond the web of each beam for proper connection. INSTALLATION OF TIE BACK ANCHORS GENERAL Tie back anchors shall be installed for the proposed Double H beam in order to reduce the bending moment deflection on the H beam wall and thereby reduced deflection on the wall top. Loads on each anchor and its dimensioning is made as elaborated in the design. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE A powerful Drill Wagon shall be used to install the tie back anchors, following sequence shall be adopted for the installation ofthe anchors. 2) Install the drill wagon at approximately the same level of the anchor head Adjust the swing mast to the required inclination to meet the designlsite requirement. Note: The mast of drill wagon can be rotated in all directions to accommodate the site requirements. b) Temporary steel casing of 130 mm dia shall be drilled through the soi! with the help of its water flush system. In order to prevent any escape of soil while driling, the casing shall be provided with an end plug. Note: Extreme care shall be taken to avoid any damage of underground =10- P4t4 Mathod Statement & Design of Temp, Retaining Wall Date04-07-2022 Mss, No, MST & DESIGNIED/Temp. RWIP-414 | Tssue -07- Rev. No.0 structures while installing the anchor. In case of existence of any obstructions such as pile foundations, the direction of the anchors can be shifted to any adjustable mast if drill wagon(UBW) or the position of the anchor itself can be relocated. The diling system provided on UBW allows the operator to observe any obstruction, ©) After reaching the required anchor length, ready-made anchor with 1. No. grout pipe at the middle will be inserted into the casing. The temporary casing shall be withdrawn whilst filing the bore with primary cement grout. The grout will carry on until the grout has replaced the water in hole completely. 2.5.3 The coment arout mix desian will be as follows = Cement grout mixture (per batch): 2 bags cement = 100 kg 5Sliters water = 55kg ~ WIC ratio = 055 - Design compressive strength of the grout at 28 days = 25 N/mm? RWIP-414 | Issue -0i- Rev. No.0 2.5.4 INSTALLATION OF WALING BEAM & ANCHOR STRESSING A.walling beam has to be installed connecting all the H beams at anchor location. 7 days after post grouting, the anchors shall be stressed and locked off to the required load, after grout compressive strength has achieved 60 to 70% of the design strength. A bearing angle plate to be welded to the H beam for the stressing of anchors. 2.5.4.1 Fixation of Bearing Plate to the Walling Beam The angle plates are welded to the Walling Beam to prevent slippage or loss of bearing surface for the anchors on the double U-Channel beam. Further the stressed anchors will act almost as a point of fixation. Anchor stressing up to 125% of the working load shall be carried out forall anchors. The detailed method statement for anchor acceptance testis given bellow. 2.5.4.2 ANCHOR ACCEPTANCE TEST 5% of anchorage used on this contract should be subjected to an acceptance test. The maximum proof load should be 125% of the working load for temporary anchors. The load displacement data should be plotted continuously over the range of 10% Tw to 125% Tw (working load). The load increment shall not be more than 50% Tw (working load), The procedure for the anchor acceptance test is given below" First Load Cycle % | Min. period of Observation (min.) 10 1 0 1 100 1 125 % 100 1 30 7 10 7 100 5 * The detailed load chart for acceptance test will be submitted minimum one week prior to the test for Engineer's approval Rev. 0 -12- P44 Method Statement & Design of Temp. No.0 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA «The proof load (125% of W.L) has not reduced during the 15 minutes by more than 5% after allowing temperature change and movement of the anchored structure. © The proof load can be maintained by jacking and the anchor head displacement monitored after 15 min. If the creep is less than 5% of elastic displacement of tendon, the anchorage deemed to be satisfactory. # Residual Load time data: If the rate of load losses reduces to 1% or less per time interval for these specific observation periods after allowing for temperature, structural movements of the tendon in accordance with the manufacturers data 2.5.4.3 DE STRESSING OF TIE BACK ANCHORS AND REMOVAL OF WALING BEAM After the construction of the pile capifooting top level at +25.6 DMD, the tie back anchors shall be de stressed by cutting the anchor head. The waling beam shall be removed from the installed position. The H beam shoring system will work as cantilever H beam as per the design given under section 1. 2.6 INSTALLATION OF CONCRETE PANELS The installation of the conerete panel between the H beam wall up to final excavation level to be done by Contractor. For the stability of the H beam, itis important that the ledges willbe installed in steps directly after the excavation (high free stands of the soil especially over a longer period must be avoided). The ledges must be fixed tight to the H beam and pressed against the undisturbed soil (see attached sketch). Any soil movements behind the H beam wall from over excavation or too high free stands must be avoided, In already excavated areas, the soil must be refilled in compacted layers. 2.7 DEWATERING The highest existing water table is at +20.45 DMD. Therefore no dewatering will be required. Rev. 0 -13- 414 Method Statement & Design of Temp. Retaining Wal Date 0407-2022 | Mes, No, NST & DESIGNIEDITenip.
